Bitdefender Forum Rules - Read carefully before posting   09/13/2016

BitDefender Forum RULES (PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING)   First, please register with the Official BitDefender Support Forum if you are not currently a member (it is free). You will need to use a valid email address, and follow the instructions to validate your membership. Then you can post.   Click here to reach the registration page: Register   GLOBAL RULES   Welcome to the BitDefender Forum!   Please understand that once you have registered as a new user, you consequently agree with ALL THE FORUM RULES written below.
These rules were designed to ensure you get the most from interacting with other users in a pleasant and constructive manner and to prevent any sort of abuse.   GENERAL RULES   1.
First and foremost, this is a support forum for BitDefender. Do NOT post comparative tests for security software for they are unrelated to the main character of the forum. Also, the support process can take many forms: a troubleshooting routine is meant to locate the cause of the issue not offer a permanent solution –do NOT post replies in the form of "I need a fix now" instead of the information requested for without locating the cause there isn't any way to implement a fix.   2.
Once an official position has been posted concerning a bug in BitDefender and the ETA for the fix, the topic will be closed down. Do not ask for the topic to be reopened unless you still have the bug after the update targeted to handle this issue.   3.
Users that have reached a 50% warn level will have their posts subjected to moderator approval and if they continue to ignore forum rules their account will be banned.   4.
Users are not allowed to use clones(using more than one account by a single person). Breaking this rule will lead to a permanent IP ban.   5.
Users are not allowed to use anonymous proxy. Breaking this rule will first result in a warning, followed by subjecting the user's posts to moderator approval/banning of the account.   6.
When reporting an issue concerning BitDefender make sure to offer the following basic information:
      - name and version of your BitDefender product;
      - name and version of your Operating System;
      - the complete error message (if any) that you receive and, if possible, attach a screenshot with it;
      - name of other security solutions that you are running;
      - when asking questions about (un)detected files (false alarms, or files that you suspect to be infected, but aren't detected), please attach a complete BitDefender scan log. Be sure to keep BitDefender fully updated so the log contains accurate info – on the support forum we only accept the posting of scan logs, for sample submission of false positive/false negative samples please upload them onto a web based platform where we can retrieve and analyze them.   7.
Topics related to the lack of response from the support department need to be backed up by as much information as possible concerning the issue that you have been facing. When you send an e-mail to support a Ticket ID will automatically be created - make sure to mention it in the forum post for it will speed up the entire process.   8.
Moderators do NOT offer support by PM. Do not send personal messages to moderators unless they expressly request it from your side/ you wish to have a closed topic re-opened/ you wish to report a forum member or topic for abusive language or spam/ you are unsure as to posting a possible solution and you wish to consult with a moderator first. All users are treated as equal on this forum and by sending a PM to a moderator you will not be entitled to faster support.
In case of rule violation reports, you can also use the built-in Report button to announce all moderators that there's a topic/post/user that violated the posting rules. Please do NOT use this function to ask for help, or announce the moderating team that you need urgent support! As said, all issues are handled as fast as possible, and none has priority over another.
      9.
Any form of aggressive language, directed at other forum members or at the BitDefender Moderating Team or staff is completely forbidden. Continuous attacks will result in an account suspension or BAN.
Also, any form of explicit, antisemitic or racial language, or social attacks (by images, text, PMs, signature, or any other form of communication on BitDefender forum) will NOT be tolerated and will result in an immediately account BAN.
Please take into consideration that this forum a public place. Treat everyone else just like you want to be treated.   10. Users are not allowed to open polls on the BitDefender Support Forum. The only members that are allowed to open polls are the moderators.   FORUM SIGNATURES, AVATARS AND DISPLAY NAMES   The signature is optional on the forum, and should be a personal message of the user that chooses it.
Moderators are obliged to include a link for the BitDefender Forum Rules in their signature.
Users will only be allowed to display a custom signature after having completed 15 posts on the forum.   The following will NOT be tolerated:
      1. Any type of explicit reference to the brand name and symbols of other security solutions available on the international market today, except BitDefender. This is a support forum dedicated only to BitDefender and advertising competitor products will lead to editing out the advertisement and a 20% increase in the warn level.
      2. The use of images higher than 300 pixels width and/or 100 pixels height.
      3. The use of images or text containing the words "Moderator", "Administrator" or "Admin" in the signatures. These will only confuse other users.
      4. The use of images taken from other users of this forum. Please use unique avatars.
      5. Use of signatures pointing to external links, they will be removed without any notice.
WARNINGS   Those who repeatedly violate these rules will receive a warn/suspend/ban.   POSTING RULES   1.
Topic titles must be as concise as possible, and starting posts must provide relevant information on the issues included, to ensure a fast and precise response from those who are willing to help. For example: avoid titles such as "Heeeeeelp!" but instead write "Question about the BitDefender Antivirus". The last title has a lot more chances of receiving fast responses. Also, topic titles such as "Program X ######! " together with the lack of any constructive arguments will not be tolerated, the topic will be deleted and the user will receive a 20% warning.   2.
Post new topics in the correct sections. The forum is structured by Product type (Home/Office or Business protection) and by product version (2008, 2009, 2010 or older versions). If you post the question in the correct section, you have a higher chance of getting a correct answer for your problems.
      3.
Bumps/Topic advertisments or any other attempts to make a topic more visible without adding any new or relevant information will NOT be tolerated and the post will be DELETED.
      4.
When posting a reply on a topic try to keep the suggestion within a relevant range – for example, when there is a post concerning an error message in BitDefender 2009 do not recommend downgrading to BitDefender 2008 for this suggestion does not address the original issue. Multiple posting of this type will lead to an increase of the warn level with 20%.   5.
Off topic replies (those that have nothing to do with the topic) will be deleted, and users will also receive a written warning . Repeated posting of offtopic replies will lead to an increase in the warn level with 10%.   6.
Keep text color, fonts and letter casing within a normal and pleasant range - any post that contains only upper case text will automatically be subjected to editing, the same applies to posts containing characters larger than size 20.   7.
Before opening a new topic, we strongly suggest that you use the SEARCH button, to be sure that the problem was not already discussed. In case you start a new topic with an issue that was already discussed, the new topic will be closed down, redirected and merged into the initial one.   8.
Do not ask the same thing on more sections of the forum. Do not post the same topic more than once. Twin topics will be removed and redirected to the original one in order to avoid confusion.   9.
Do NOT request/post warez software, cracks, serial numbers or any other actions which involve software piracy. Topics and replies related to cracking security software, advice on breaching security systems, cracking security protocols, flood attacks or posts that promote cracking or Internet attacks in any way will be deleted at once and the users that posted them will have their accounts suspended at once. Also, no support will be offered for users that are using a cracked version of BitDefender on their systems.   10.
Please avoid topic titles such as "URGENT" since all cases are treated as soon as possible.   11.
Please be patient – there are a lot of issues on the forum and we are doing the best we can to answer them all. Therefore, you may receive your answer immediately, but it may also take several days just as well.   12.
We do not allow people to post threads that advertise or solicit any products, services, funds or donations – all topics of this type will be automatically DELETED . Explicit advertising is also prohibited.
FORUM RULES ARE SUBJECTED TO CONTINUOUS MODERATION AND CAN BE CHANGED AT ANY GIVEN TIME WITHOUT PRIOR NOTIFICATION. ANY TOPIC DEBATING FORUM RULES WILL BE CLOSED DOWN AND AUTOMATICALLY DELETED FOR THESE RULES ARE NOT SUBJECTED TO DEBATE.   Have a nice day,
      The BitDefender Team.

[Fixed] Bitdefender Total Security 2017 Firewall Adapters Missing

153 posts in this topic

Posted (edited)

I have been running Bitdefender Total Security (BTS) since the 2008 version.  Within the past 3 months, we upgraded to the 2017 version.  This past week, I have had multiple PC's running BTS 2017 exhibit the same problem.  All PC's in question are running 64-bit Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1.  The problem surfaces to the end user by blocking network connectivity.  Digging into BTS Firewall settings, there is no Adapter listed.  Also, since there is no Adapter listed, there is also no Network Exceptions available.  Turning off the BTS Firewall resolves the issue.  Yesterday I have used the BTS Uninstall Utility to completely remove BTS from the affected system then reinstalled BTS 2017.  Today another PC is exhibiting the same issue.  Is this malware that I'm dealing with or some buggy BTS issue?  How can I resolve this issue and get back to a stable operating environment?

The situation reported in this thread is known and it is being worked on. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience.

At this time there is no ETA. As soon as there are news regarding this issue, the thread will be updated.

There are three ways you can workaround this issue.

1. Disable the Firewall and activate the Windows Firewall

- Rest assured that the other modules are fully active and will keep the machine protected

- Bitdefender > Protection > View Modules > Firewall - The ON/OFF switch is at the top right corner of the interface

2. Revert to the previous build

- Run a repair on he product - https://www.bitdefender.com/support/how-to-repair-bitdefender-2017-1737.html

- Afterwards change the updates to "Prompt before downloading"  - Bitdefender > Settings > Update

- Once the product will want to Update, please make sure to select onl ythe Virus Signatures and not the Product Update.

- Please note that this will disable the AutoPilot, enabling it will undo the Update settings.

3. If the product is blocking certain Shares/Wireless Printers you can add a exclusion on their local IP (this one is more situational)

https://www.bitdefender.com/support/how-to-add-a-network-exception-in-bitdefender-2017-(i-cannot-access-a-device-on-my-network)-1792.html

- Alternatively you can add the whole local network 192.168.0.1/24 | 192.168.1.1/24

NOTE : Since the Adapters are not available please add the IP Exclusion on all Profiles (Trusted/Home-Office/Public/Untrusted)

Thank you for your patience.

I have the same problem too, my VPN connection doesn't show in Network adapters list.

I'm using Bitdefender Internet Security 2017, my OS is Windows 7 Professional Services Pack 1 x64.

Same problem here!

Also Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 x64 and Bitdefender Internet Security 2017.

Connections to network drives (SMB) are blocked by the Bitdefender Firewall. If the Firewall is turned off, it works. The machine is connected via VPN (Cisco Any Connect).

I wanted to check the Network Type for the Adapters in the Firewall Settings and set them to Home/Office to fix the issue. But i have the same issue as MHCadmin, at least if i understood correctly.

In the Bitdefender Firewall Settings the list of Network Adapters is EMPTY. There should be a Wireless Connection, there should be the VPN Adapter, but nonthing at all. Windows Network Settings shows them, Bitdefender doesnt.

This seems to be a Bitdefender Issue!

Hello,

Please run a update from the Bitdefender interface and reboot the machine afterwards.

Let me know if the issue persists.

Hello Sorin,

Thanks for your help.

Updating fixed the missing adapter issue for me, but not for my colleague running the same environment basically... very strange.

Also, for me still one issue remain. Now that I have the adapter back, I added the network exception for my network printer. However each time I restart the exception is gone again... And therefore cannot access the printer.

Updated and rebooted twice but the network adapter list in the firewall settings is still empty (Bitdefender Internet Security 2017 Build 21.0.24.53).

I had a look at my firewall settings in %PROGRAMFILES%\Bitdefender\Bitdefender 2017\settings\firewall

- ig_profiles.xml - Has almost 1000 lines, which are almost 100 profiles. The machine is rather new and was connected to one LAN, two WLAN, one VPN, no Bluetooth...

- ig_zones.xml - Basically empty

Update/restart did not fix it. No adapters when I connect to my iPhone WiFi hotspot. When I am home connected to my home WiFi, then the adapter shows up. Submitted a support request through the Bitdefender interface. No ticket number was given.

I've been following this topic and all the posts in it and I have today, I'm still having an issue.  Today I ran the repair option on two PC's.  It works initially, but subsequent reboots later the network exceptions I've added now countless times are still missing.  Something is buggy here for sure!  My missing adapter appears to have been resolved with the repair and/or reinstall, but I can't get my network exceptions to stick after reboot.  I have submitted a ticket (#2017030716430005) and several log files already via the automated trouble support tool within BTS, however, the back and forth process with tech support is so painfully slow and meanwhile I'm left with limited network access and frustrated end users who need this to work as it is supposed to work.

Same here.

Adapter field is EMPTY.

I am not able to exlude an IP. Yes sure i can, but after a restart it is EMPTY again. It is a bug. My girlfriend from Brazil, that uses BD Total Security 2017 has this prob, too.

My Dad, that uses same Version, has this prob, too.

I have this prob.

It is a bug inside the software, once again. Ah and before i forget: The search advisor inside firefox 52 seems to stop too. The certificate inside Fox from BD seems corrupted. Hope u guys solve this heavy bug as soon as possible. And for this all i reinstalled Windows 3 times! Facepalm. I thought that my adapter is defect...

I use Windows 10 Professional 64bit

My girlfriend uses Windows 10 Professional 64bit

My dad uses Windows 10 Home 64bit.

We all use the latest version of Bitdefendet Total Security 2017.

Friendly greets from Germany.

B)

PS: cant we put this into one topic? We have few topics open bout this problem. Peace and cheers.

I am experiencing the same problem with an empty adapterlist, and a brother printer not accessable as usual. Need to get the BD firewall down first, then the printer is online again and works as usual.

I also noticed that shutting down Windows 10 (64b) takes a lot longer and starting up too. On my i7 Asus ZenBook I am used to shutdown and startup times in the range of 10 .. 15 sec, but now it takes a minute and startup is sometime problematic: I have to do it several times, I see sometimes only the mouse pointer!

I also 'repaired' Bitdefender as feinberg@nmt.md and THX1138 suggested, but then the Repair is only working up to the next update that comes in a matter of minutes and then the problem is back. So I conclude that the latest update is the problem: it messes things up!

How can we skip this update of Bitdefender?

I have it working now, although I suspect only temporarily. I ran repair again and then update while attached to my home wifi. Both my wireless and wired adapters are showing now in the firewall tab and I can access my network storage, which I could not when the adapters were not showing without turning the firewall off. The wifi advisor though, shows no adapters which is strange even though I am connected to my home wifi. I suspect when I go to work tomorrow and connect to my iPhone hotspot, the adapters will disappear again and my vpn will not work without turning the firewall off. I may have to pursue going back to 2016 Bitdefender which worked fine.

Same story here. I missed all adapters, tried to repair as it suggested, but it crashed my Windows 7 SP1.

After safe mode uninstall, clean install I could see my adapters, but after update its missing again.

I can not access Windows shared drives thru OpenVPN, nor my printers in local network (IP port connected).

I can access printer admin console via HTTP and even scan, but whatever Windows use for printing does not pass firewall at this moment and Windows see the printer as offline. When I turn off firewall, starts printing immediately

Please fix it as soon as possible. I have no access to my files nor my printers. The only way to work is with the firewall disabled.

Bitdefender build 21.0.24.53
