  1. Ok, I did another complete uninstall, downloaded a fresh copy of BD, updated it, put in a new key, went to run BD on my home directlry and it crashes. Help?
  2. Hello? Anyone home?
  3. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04. Did a clean install of BD. After updating and starting a scan, get error message "Failed to load the antivirus engines" Did a complete uninstall. Did another clean install of BD. Same issue. Tried remidies in previous posts with no luck.
  4. I think part of the issue here is people not experienced with Linux don't realize that Linux AV's do NOT run real time. They only run when you are scanning for viruses. While this may seem to be a huge hole in protection to those used to Winders, because Linux is far more secure by its very design, it is quite adequate. In fact, you really don't want to run an AV real time if you don't have to as the load on system resources is considerable. (Rather like driving with your brakes on.) -Joe-
  5. I ran the TWO commands. Worked. No longer crashes. For noobs: do not include the # in your copy. Copy and execute the lines as TWO commands...should work! Thanks for the help!!!! Joe
  6. Ran command using sudo: this is the result: sudo cat /opt/BitDefender-scanner/var/lib/scan/versions.dat.* |awk '/bdcore.so.linux/{print $3}'|while read bdcore_so;do touch /opt/BitDefender-scanner/var/lib/scan/$bdcore_so;bdscan --update;ln -s /opt/BitDefender-scanner/var/lib/scan/$bdcore_so /opt/BitDefender-scanner/var/lib/scan/bdcore.so;done touch: cannot touch `/opt/BitDefender-scanner/var/lib/scan/bdcore.so.linux-x86_64': Permission denied BitDefender Antivirus Scanner for Unices v7.90123 Linux-amd64 Copyright © 1996-2009 BitDefender. 7. I am running Ubuntu 64 11.04 Natty with the 2.6.38-12 kernel.
  8. After the last update, when starting a scan on any directory Bitdefender crashes right after starting to load the antivirus engines.
  9. I did an update and it appears to be fixed. Thank the dev team for me for the nice job! Joe.
  10. Additional information: BD previously ran fine in Ubuntu 10.04. Upgraded Ubuntu from 10.04 to 10.10. System has 2 GB ram w/100+ GB free space in HDD CLI also crashes as soon as AV engines load and start scanning. Log file reports only directory of scan. Trying to scan home directory. I again tried a complete uninstall via synaptic and a new install. No change. Still crashes BD when it starts to scan.
  11. BitDefender crashes when starting a scan in Ubuntu 10.10 I have D/L a fresh copy of BD for Unices and did a fresh install. I updated the a/v signatures I rebooted. When I go to scan anything, as soon as the a/v engines load and it starts to scan it crashes. Logs don't show anything. I've tried running BD using SUDO and GKSU, neither helps. Any ideas? Joe.
