  1. I've been having significant difficulty with my browser windows going blank and my online services being blocked. I've been running both bitdefender and spy-bot daily. I went to mozilla and made adjustment to my browser as advised. I don't have any more time to fiddle with this and out of shear desperation I installed AVG which found 119 threats. I'm not trying to be nasty, just figure you guys need to know to address whatever the problem is, and I really still need help: I've tried to uninstall BitDefender 2010. Apparently it is half done because the program will not open when the icon is clicked. However it is still evident because I am getting a pop up that keeps advising me to reboot for the updates to take effect. I've tried redoing the uninstall in my Window's Vista Control panel. It gets a little way then stops with the following message, "Service BitDefender Desktop Update Service (LIVESRV) could not be deleted. Verify that you have sufficient priviledges to remove services." It gives me the option to "retry" or "cancel" but doesn't tell me how to verify I have sufficient priviledges. so all I can do is cancel, and then put up with the popup that wants me to reboot my computer for updates. I'm doing this in my administrator account. So this message doesn't make sense. IVery sorry, but I don't have time for this with a full course load, group projects with others dependent on me, and finals coming up, particularly since the courses are all online and i am dependent on things working and working very well. How do I verify I have sufficient priviledges and uninstall Bit Defender completely. Thank-you, curriebc@live.ca
  2. Sorry, don't mean to go on about this. But I did find this: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefo...ertain+websites I use primarily use Firefox. So it might be part of the problem. Maybe this will help someone else out too? haven't tried it yet but if it works I'll post any positive result. Mo
  3. Could it be possible that the problem has something to do with this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vundo The blank screen is a problem with this virus (among other problems). Also, I ran Spy Bot after reading this anyway (says Spy bot won't work on Vundo) and sure enough i had a "hijacked" browswer (another indication that may be associated with Vundo). I've been running BD and Spybot almost daily to keep things going. Driving me nuts. Haven't finished reading the Administrator update above though . . . will read those too. Mo
  4. Hi there, I've been having difficulty with web pages not displaying content lately -- They appear loaded by the lower left "Done" status, and the URL and the Tab title, but the page is totally white. No message. Nothing. So . . . i've been running Bit Defender almost daily for the last 3 or 4 days, which made evident a second problem with Bit Defender: BD keeps giving message of 1 critical error "scan not run in X days". This is weird because each day I've run a deep system scan. Then the next day, the same things happens and adds another day to the length of time the message says a scan hasn't been run. It seems like the system isn't registering that i've done a scan the day before. (I've retrieved updates, so everything is up-to-date.) Any idea of what is going on? Thank-you PS if anyone knows why I can't load web pages (my first problem), I'd appreciate an answer to that one too. I've attached a print screen of what this looks like. Its in word2003 (.doc). screen_print.doc
