I recently got an email saying that Bitdefender was going to automatically renew itself. I sent a few messages via the Bitdefender site to customer support to cancel my subscription but there was no reply and today I got an email saying that it has automatically renewed. I want to cancel this subscription and since customer support isn't responding I have to post here to hopefully get an answer. Please help. Thanks.

Not really a help Afronick, but I am in almost the same situation as you ...I have received an e-mail saying my subscription is about to automatically renew but the link that is supposed to allow you to cancel doesn't seem to be there !!

I have e-mailed Customer Services for help but reading your posting I'm not too confident of a quick response.

Please can someone from Digital River/BitDefender help ?

Thanks
Mike

I have just found this link :

http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=3077

In this, Cris, (a forum moderator) states that BitDefender do *not* automatically renew subscriptions.
Can someone please explain what is going on ?

Thanks
Mike

Well...they did automatically renew. My CC was charged with the renewal amount for another year even though I sent them massive amounts of email to cancel. Can a moderator explain this?

Did you guys get anywhere with this? I've been charged again and every time they send an email its from some auto response with a whole of crap about following links that never materialise. I'll check back in case you reply but I think I'm taking this up with my credit card company now this is fraud.

I'm in the same boat....I give them a couple of work days for a refund then I'll contact Mastercard and maybe my state attorney general's office. I see I'm not an isolated case.

I registered on this site specifically because I had the same problems with auto-renew as the rest of you. I did finally get it turned off by contacting the company that does this for Bitdefender. In talking to the Live Help Desk at Bitdefender, I got a phone number. I had to do a reverse number check to see who I was calling.
They are called Digital River, telephone 952-253-1234 in Eden Prarie, MN. I had submitted my request not to auto renew numerous times until they charged my credit card anyway. I haven't tried this, but they told me you need to go to your account with Bitdefender and uncheck the auto renew box. I know I never checked it initially, but finally got this far with it.

You may want to use caution when you deal with the Digital River "Customer Service" because I think I ruffled a few feathers and as a result had several unrelated charges posted to my credit card on the same day as I had contacted them. They are smart enough to know Visa isn't going to lynch them for numerous relatively small amounts. I have written snail mail to them as well as Bitdefender, but doubt they will care. You can tell this is not an honest company by the way they deal with auto-renew. I think that's just the tip of the iceberg. Good luck to you and I hope this information helps.

I also just registered just so I can post this. I had the exact same thing happen to me, and today I got an email that said they charged the credit card. It is a company credit card and we are probably going to call Visa and have them challenge it.

I see there's a rip-off report about it too, so it's happening to anyone who doesn't want to use BitDefender any more. I'll be sure to NEVER use this product again, and I've told everyone at my company about it, and they're all telling everyone else to not buy this product.

I hope someone who works for BitDefender reads this thread and does something about it.
