I'm in the same boat....I give them a couple of work days for a refund then I'll contact Mastercard and maybe my state attorney general's office. I see I'm not an isolated case.
I registered on this site specifically because I had the same problems with auto-renew as the rest of you. I did finally get it turned off by contacting the company that does this for Bitdefender. In talking to the Live Help Desk at Bitdefender, I got a phone number. I had to do a reverse number check to see who I was calling.
They are called Digital River, telephone 952-253-1234 in Eden Prarie, MN. I had submitted my request not to auto renew numerous times until they charged my credit card anyway. I haven't tried this, but they told me you need to go to your account with Bitdefender and uncheck the auto renew box. I know I never checked it initially, but finally got this far with it.
You may want to use caution when you deal with the Digital River "Customer Service" because I think I ruffled a few feathers and as a result had several unrelated charges posted to my credit card on the same day as I had contacted them. They are smart enough to know Visa isn't going to lynch them for numerous relatively small amounts. I have written snail mail to them as well as Bitdefender, but doubt they will care. You can tell this is not an honest company by the way they deal with auto-renew. I think that's just the tip of the iceberg. Good luck to you and I hope this information helps.
