I recently installed BitDefender 2008 on Windows XP SP3 system with Outlook 2002 SP3. All looks OK and seems to run OK. The BitDefender toolbar is correctly present in Outlook and mostly works OK. However, I'm having great trouble whitelisting my friends.
If I click on the BD Wizard I get an Outlook popup window that says
"A program is trying to access e-mail address you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this? If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should choose "No". Allow access for ...".
Then it allows access for 1, 2, 5, or 10 minutes, or you can select No. If I select Yes for some amount of time Outlook silently crashes. If I select No then I can get into the "Train the Bayesian Filter on Existing E-mail" but it doesn't seem to actually add the addresses from the folders I select. If I later select the BD "Friends" icon from Outlook I see about 37 names but not from the folder that I attempted to add.
I'll also try submitting the problem to BitDefender tech support, but I thought I also ask if anyone else has seen this type of problem.
Also, does anyone think that BD 2009 would be any different/better/worse? It is my understanding that owners of BD 2008 can upgrade for free to BD 2009.
