BitDefender Internet Security 2008

First, I have several anti spyware programs that I run, but real time protection is not enabled on any of them and none run at startup. I just start manually and run a scan and then shut the program back down.

Suddenly, two days ago, I was running a deep scan with BitDefender and got a screen stating there were 4 items it couldn't scan due to password protection. I contacted BitDefender support and was asked to send the log from this scan, but when I clicked to Show Log rather than getting the Internet page with the log, Windows Explorer opened. I went to C:/Program/BitDefender and opened the Log folder there and it was empty.

I Googled this and found information that some of these password protected items might be items quarantined in my anti spyware programs so I went into them and deleted quarantined items; then ran another deep scan. This time it showed only 1 password protected item.

Again, I'm not sure the scan even finished because there is no log. On the scan log summary it says that all items were not fixed during the scan. If the scan is actually completing, why is there no log?

I can click on Contextual and open up a scan log there, but I can't under Deep Scan or Full Scan.

Can anyone offer any advice on what's going on here? Where are the logs going? The program has been working fine until a couple of days ago, and the only thing I've done for changes is that I did download Firefox but that's been a couple of weeks ago.

Thank you,
Nikilet

I've received no answers on this topic at all. I'm really concerned about not having any logs to view. Is there anyone out there who might know what's causing this, or has also experienced it?

I am also worried about not being able to find any kind of log after running a deep scan. It is very desirable to have something to look at as confirmation a scan has run fully and details of its findings. As I often start a scan then wander off or use scheduled unattended scans, sometimes I find a machine has shutdown after being idle or I miss the onscreen results.

Any help or input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I see that I am not the only one having this problem and I assume you have contacted BitDefender like I have. They are not forthcoming with any kind of satisfactory answer. I have about given up and will probably look for another option when my license runs out. If there's anyone out there with an answer, or even a suggestion as to what might be wrong, or some other place to look for logs, please help us.

thanks
