Hello,
You can create an account here http://beta.bitdefender.com/totalsecurity and download and test BitDefender for yourself. You can miss a lot of things in the screenshots ,you can see more if you test it, it's free . smile.gif

P.S : A safe way of testing Software is to use VMware.

thank you for the tips. I have already registered there. Hope I'll have time to test. I was asking this because of my bad experience with BD 10 Beta testing. smile.gif
Rudi Bedy
I've looked into all BD 2008 internal releases and it seems they have made a good work for a Beta. I've tested them on VMware to be sure it can't happen anything. In the past week they fixed a lot of things, so it seems they do a good work. This last release is the one i haven't tested but I've tested the one that was available in the morning and seemed OK. Did you people saw the new Features?what do you think about?
AcceleratorX
I am downloading it now, will let people know my initial impressions by tomorrow or the day after! smile.gif
AndreiASM
Hi, Rudi!

I installed it and I have to say that I already found a couple of bugs. They aren't big bugs which can cause system instability or something like that.

Here are my first impressions:

1. GUI: Cool, there had to be made a change smile.gif

About the rest I'll let you know tomorrow (oops... smile.gif today, after a good nap ).

PS: Rudi, I really hope nothing will happend, because I installed it directly on my PC (I don't use VMWare or Microsoft Virtual PC...). I hope the scan engine is working well smile.gif

Andrei
Rudi Bedy
hello,

There must be a "settings" button on the botom of the GUI there you will see the Advanced Settings. The Advanced Settings is the old GUI with some improvements in the Settings.
AndreiASM
I like the GUI a lot. Something new, fresh, to scare malware away! biggrin.gif

So far so good. As I was saying, I hope there won't be any serious conflicts between BD and other software or the OS itself.

Well, they have been resolved today rolleyes.gif

My mistake: the bugs have reappeared after computer restart.

When can we expect Beta 2, anyone knows? smile.gif
Zoo
Here is where you can download the BitDefender total Security 2008, and where to keep an eye on for updates, also its only trial, if you want a license for other software you have to buy 1

http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de..._security/beta/

I am beta testing highly with this software, make sure you get the uninstall tool as well, :-)
bluesprite
Thanks, I'm aware of that. I was hoping someone from the team would give some inside information. wink.gif

Come on huh.gif I've installed the Beta 2 and as usually I've changed the Shield's settings. If a threat is detected the first action is to quarantine it and the second one is to delete it. After that almost every file on my computer was quarantined (not copied, but MOVED). Starting from desktop.ini to explorer.exe (drivers, .ini files, executable ones, .lnk files). Thanks God I didn't restart my computer. dry.gif
Rudi Bedy
Here are some screenshots from BitDefender Total Security 2008 Beta 2 , i've tested it a little bit and it seems that some of the problems were resolved.

Hey why is BitDefender blatantly ripping off Norton 360's user-interface. Do you guys not innovate ? Well at least you didn't call it BitDefender 360 angry.gif

There is a big difference BitDefender 2008 or any other version rules and Norton 360 or any other version sucks there is the best difference. rolleyes.gif tongue.gif BitDefender is the best laugh.gif
AndreiASM
I don't think anybody from BitDefender is trying to copy Norton. Let's be serious.... who in the world would still use it? smile.gif Just because the interface has a button which looks like a button from Norton this doesn't mean they try to copy it.

Hi to all BETA Testers,

I think I found a possible issue with BitDefender 10 IS and XAMPP. This issue might affect BDv11 also, so please check it.

Could anyone post the new label "scan exclusions" screenshot?

Is it the only new feature added in AV Section?

Sorry I can't test, at the moment (My test PC is out of order).

Thanks.

Thank you. It looks more useful than actual.

Are you so nice showing me other screenies of AV and Antispy sections? (settings, scan, quarantine)

Many thanks in advance.

Are these definitives colors? Is it possible to add more "life" in that GUI? Is too "flat" in my opinion. More red, yellow, brilliant blue can be added!

This is my opinion but reading forums many peoples claim really new GUI.

Best Regards.
Mike

The Scan, Quarantine and Settings, as well as the Spyware section are no different than in version 10 regarding the interface, there's nothing new to see really. But if you insist, I'll take some screenshots. As for the interface, while I agree that it could be better, I also find this one to be stylish. I definitely think that it's the usability and efficiency that matter, not the colors. There are many bad but colorful products out there. Anyway, I don't think they'll rework the whole interface at this stage, it's too late for that. smile.gif

Installed XAMPP, with all four servers online. No problem at all with updates. BD11 doesn't implement bdss.exe, it now has a Threat Scanner, which is run by a svchost.exe instance.

That's good to know smile.gif
Then I just have to wait until BD v11 comes out of BETA. In the meantime, I have to be careful to close the FTP server before I update BD biggrin.gif

It seems like the interface is changing a little bit, you will see the new GUI in the next Beta.

Have a nice day.
Catal1n
Good news. Lest`s see what GUI they will bring in beta 3.
@Rudi Bedy: when we should expect the next beta? Could be this week?
Rudi Bedy
Like i've heard, the release of the next beta could be on 12 this month , but i am not sure.
Catal1n
OK, thanks.
I will wait the mail notification.
Catal1n
Today is 13.07.2007 and no new beta version.
Probably the beta won`t finish on July 20.
bluesprite
Indeed, it seems very unlikely. smile.gif

Why i can not register to become tester in this campaign.

Huh, this problem (i think so) still be there, in version 2008. It is i can kill easily process vsserv.exe (Scans media for viruses and other security threats) and then BitDefender can not scan anything (critical with one program relating to security). Anh when i return window :

Why signatures of version 2008 beta 2 is less than Bit 10.

I try scan my documents feature and then :

- If i chose Unhide action - Fix it then i cannot unhide it :

- If i chose Take no action then :

This Window is crashed and not responde sad.gif
AndreiASM
Do you get an e-mail after you register? Because your account may be active even you haven't received the conformation e-mail.
After you succsesfully register, download the crash tool, and create the dump file (after BD crashes), and attach it to a new bug.

Andrei
vladx
About the fact that BD processes are still easily killed don't worry, in the next betas(probably beta 3) BTS 2008 will include self-protection. wink.gif
