Hi Guys,
For weeks now BitDefender has been randomly crashing. There is no pattern to it, the computer could be up/idle for hours or it might happen after boot.
I'm using:
BitDefender Antivirus 2008 - Build 11.0.17
Can anyone help me please? It's getting to the point where I might just move to another Antivirus program. Have left it a few weeks awaiting new updates to see if that solves the problem and even found a thread on these forums regarding the same issue but within that thread people seem to have solved their issue with an update back in June.
My version is totally up to date so hence bringing this up again.
O/S Windows Vista x64 - Business.

I'm with ScottW - I've been having the same issues since I installed BitDefender on my Vista Home Premium 64bit, with SP1. I am using an HP Pavillion dv9700 Notebook.
I am currently running BitDefender Internet Security 2008 - Build 11.0.17. The "BitDefender Threat Scanner" service is set to Startup Type "Manual" and is running as a local service.
I am getting the same error, a windows dialog that pops up and tells me that the threat scanner has stopped working. This happens intermittently, perhaps once or twice each week. I have not noticed any consistent action that kicks it off, in fact it seems to happen when I'm not actively doing anything else, like reading a document.
If I go to the Event Viewer, I see two errors today:

I have noticed a similar error notice with a program Miro, and with Miro the program seems unaffected by the supposed error. Could this be just a miscommunication between Vista and when BitDefender turns off the Threat Scanner service?

The same is happening for me with the 2009 version.
My licence will be over in two months, but there's no way I'm gonna renew it, since the 2008 version bitdefender is more and more bugy.

bump.
I've had BD for about 4 months now and have had no problems at all until about 2-3 days ago. I get the same error, "BitDefender Threat Scanner has stopped working". For the last 2-3 days this happens EVERY time that I turn my computer on, after about 2-3mins. I haven't changed anything on my system lately, other than maybe a Windows Update?
I have 64-bit Vista Premium with SP1 with all the updates and BitDefender Antivirus 2008 with all the updates.
Anyone found any solutions to this yet?
