I bought a pc game and after installing, BitDefender pops up and says it has a Backdoor.Sdbot.BID virus. I know for a fact this game does not have a virus. It immediatly deleted the exe leaving me unable to play game. I went into the exceptions folder and told it NOT to scan the files that contain that game, exe, etc. but guess what, it still scans them, it still deletes the file, and I still can't play the game. I contacted the company from which I bought it and they are stumped also. I have talked to others who bought the game from that site and their AV's have never told them there was a virus. How can I fix this so I can play the game?!

Can anyone help? I've contacted customer support twice in one week now and they have never answered me. I even uninstalled/reinstalled BitDefender, put the exceptiosn in once again and it still is deleting the file. In other words, it is IGNORING the exception rules!

Have you gotten any response to this yet? I have exactly the same problem, particularly with tools necessary for client administration, which BD flags as trojans, etc., but still scans regardless of the exception settings. I have to restore them over and over after shutting of active scanning. It really gets old.

I have the same problem! I want to exclude directories with log files and scans from document scanning software
(large tiffs and 100000+ log files) and vba scripts blocked by Bitdefender. Bitdefender ignores all exceptions settings.
I contacted the german support and received the following answer on 14. August 2008:
"Wir haben alle Informationen die Sie an uns gesendet haben, analysiert und wir
werden zielgenau die Angelegenheit erledigen.
Unser Team arbeitet bereits an der Problembehebung, und sobald es verfügbar
ist, werden wir es durch den automatischen Update einsetzen."
On the 4th of July (40 days ago) leoliver received the reply
"The issue that you have reported has been acknowledged by our team and is
currently being worked on for a fix. As soon as we will have reached a
solution, you will be notified via email. The fix will be done by means of
automatic update and won't require any additional action from your part."
This is no exact translation of the German reply, but has the exactly the same meaning.
Is it such a monstrous problem to tell a software to ignore a certain path or extension;-)

I got the same exact reply over a month ago which took them nearly 2 weeks to tell me. We are all getting the same answers but no results! This is very frustrating. My license expires in November, I am seroiusly thinking abuot switching anti virus companies now.
This is not some little, minor problem, this is a HUGE problem, they need to fix it, YESTERDAY!

For what it's worth, I'm having the same problem as well. I haven't talked to support, but by the sound of it it wouldn't do much good if I did. Seems like a big problem for them to have overlooked... Hopefully we'll hear something soon.

Any idea if this issue has been fixed yet?!

Yes. A regular update on 12 September seems to have fixed the problem with exceptions. BD now appears to ignore the specified extensions/folders except when you explicitly ask BD to scan them (which is, I think, how it's supposed to work).
