I recently purchased and installed BitDefender Total Security 2008 (32bit) onto my mothers PC, which is Windows 2000 Professional. (Going too fast I thought I was on my own PC which is Win XP on FAT32). Should I have installed the 64bit version? The hard disk has been formatted as NTFS.

If I should install the 64bit version will there be any issues with the license key?

No there is no problem with the license key as long as you are using it on only one computer.

About the 64bits version: you should use our 64bit version only if you have a 64bit compatible PC and an OS that supports that hardware, like MS Windows XP 64bit etc.

You can download the 64bits version from here: http://download.bitdefender.com

Hello msty_me,

Because you didn't said a how many user license key you have bought it's difficult to say. There is no problem if it's for example a 2 pc 2 year license than there isn't any problem to use the same license key on another laptop or pc.

To verify if you have a 32 bit or 64 bit version off windows please do this:

Press the windows button together with r now type winmsd.exe press enter. Take a look at the right panel at the entry processor if you see ia64 or AMD64 than you have a 64 bit version.

Here a more direct link You only have to click on the folder of your language or country. Now you will see a folder called x64 open that there you can download the 64 bit version.

Kind regards,
Niels

Also Intel processors have 64bits instructions so you can see that with software like cpu-z for sure. For intel it is marked as EM64T instructions. But it is true that AMD invented the 64bits processors, still a big fan of Intel though. smile.gif

And you can enter in Sys information also by only typing winmsd.
