Today i tried to install BitDefender Total Security 2008. I used it in the past and wanted to test it again.
For some reason installation is goig well. But after reboot I get several errors that parts can't be loaded.
Anyone any ideas?
Wow
No one can help me out?

Hello Plato,
When you removed BitDefender, did you use the
BitDefender Uninstall Tool? If not, I suggest to download it, make a complete removal, and try again to install it.
Also, I assume you previously had a different product. Did you remove it correctly? Read this
topic.

Hi Cris
I did use the uninstallation tool. I also removed and cleaned everything from previous security products.
Anyone else have any idea?

What is your operating system? Did you try to uninstall BitDefender again and reinstall after that? Did BitDefender manage to update right after installation?

Hi bluesprite
I'm on Vista SP1.
I uninstalled with the removal tool. And yes Bitdefender did update while installing. But after the reboot , it just stops

Is that 32- or 64-bit? Check your Event Viewer for any errors or warnings. Check your services console. There should be 4 BitDefender services, are all of them started? They should be set to automatic startup, except for the Threat Scanner. If some of them aren't started, start them manually and try to open BitDefender and update it again.

Thanx
It's 32 bit.
They all are on automatic start except for Threat Scanner indeed. But when I reboot several pop ups show that the 3 automatic start BD components were not able to start up.

So, can you start them manually? Anyway, by the time you solve this, the new beta will probably be released lol...

Hello Plato,
Please press the windows button together with r now type devmgmt.msc. Go to the view menu, select display hidden devices. Now expand the section non plug and play compatible drivers.
You may not see any yellow exclamtion marks.
Check if you can find:
bdftdif
BDSelfPr
Profos
Trufos
Now double click on each of them. The device should be enabled. Now press on the driver tab and by startup type should be set on system and the current status should be started. And this for bdftdif. By the rest it should be set on on request (demand).
Now expand the network adaptors section you must find BitDefender Firewall NDSIS Filter Miniport. It should be enabled in other words you may not see a red cross or a yellow exclamation mark.
Best regards,
Niels

Hello Plato,
Then BitDefender didn't installed correctly because all off them need to be there if BitDefender will work correctly. Are you using programs in the background that logs installations to be able to afterwards uninstall software completely? If so disable them
before installing BitDefender. Do you have other security software installed? I mean teatimer of Spybot Search & Destroy or any other realtime protection of any other security software if so temporary disable the realtime protection.
Try the following:
Download first microsoft installer cleanup from
here. Install it. Now right click on the red BitDefender icon near the system clock and press on exit. Now click on start,(all programs) Windows install cleanup search for an entry called BitDefender Total Security select it and press on remove confirm the message. Search also for entries that looks like this 11.X.XX (where x are numbers) select it also and press on remove.
Now run the BitDefender uninstall tool. Reboot your pc afterwards it will be asked by the BitDefender uninstall tool. Log in with an account that has administrator priviliges right click on the installer and choose for run as administrator. Now start the installation. Is the problem the same when you log on with another useraccount?
Best regards
Niels

I only have SuperAntispyware installed. But not on real time.
I did what you told in your last reply and still nothing.

Hello Plato,
Do you have the paid version of Superantispyware? If so there is registry protection so it might that superantispyware blocked registry changes. Open Windows Defender in vista go to tools, software explorer do you see any BitDefender services that are currently blocked (search by startup programs, services?
Uninstall BitDefender again by my instructions. But now install BitDefender on a different user account. First close superantispyware completely by right clicking on the item and choose exit. Right click again on the the installer and choose run as administrator.
Best regards
