I have used Kaspersky for the last year (before that Zonelabs) but found it slowed up my internet surfing terribly. So, I switched to BitDefender a few weeks ago (the trial version) and it is just SO much better! So much so that I have decided to stick with BitDefender and buy the full version.

I only need the software for 1 PC, but I am attracted to the 2-year or 3-year license at these are the cheaper options (per annum). But, my concern is would the subscription only include upgrades within the BitDefender Total Security 2008 version of the software, or would it also include upgrades to new versions of BitDefender (e.g. BitDefender Total Security 2009 and 2010)?

If the subscription only includes access to BitDefender 2008, then there is really no point in buying more than 1-year at a time.

It include virus signatures update and software new releases update (2008 -> 2009 ....).

A BitDefender license gives the permission to use a product for the period of time and within the limitations specified in the BitDefender End User License Agreement.
The following services are provided to free of charge to registered holders of a BitDefender license:

* Software updates during the license period
* Technical support during the license period
* Access to product documentation and online knowledge base
* Response to files submitted to the BitDefender Lab for analysis (SLA)
* Upgrades: software upgrades to new versions are available for free during the registration period
* Update pushing during the license period, when available

You bought the licenses, not just a product. You can use the licenses with the newer versions as well
