Full Version: Conflict With Ashampoo Burning Studio V5,6,7

I am using BD AV 2008 only, not the security suite.

One of BD's AV services in conflicting with the verification stage of my Ashampoo Burning Studio software when I try to burn any type dvd/cd and then verify the burn. It will cause Burning Studio to hang and never close. Taskmanger cannot kill the Burning Studio process and I cannot shutdown/restart my PC unless I hit my PC's reset button. This problem goes away if I disable all of BD's AV services through Windows Services menu or uninstall BD completely. This happens about 90%+ of the time when I try to verify a dvd/cd. BD AV doesn't conflict with the burning stage of Burning Studio from what I can tell, only its verification stage.

I get this problem with Ashampoo Burning Studio v5, 6, and the latest 7, and even after restoring from a clean Windows install from a Ghost image. I never had this problem with BD AV v9 & 10.

I am currently running WinXP SP2 with the latest patches.

I'm also using BD AV 2008 only, not the security suite, and have the same problem- or even worse.
When I try to burn (not just verify!) any cd/dvd, some BD's AV services couses my dvd burning software (Ashampoo Burning Studio and CDbrnerXP in the same way) to freeze, hang and never close. I also cannot kill the Burning Studio process and I cannot shutdown/restart my PC unless I hit my PC's reset button. As I cannot fully disable all of BD's processes (BDagent.exe is only one I can)- even with Taskkiller software, I can't disable BD to burn some dvd and then enable it again later- I have to uninstall it completely.

I even tryed with fresh install of windows XP sp3, but it's the same thing again.
Only solution I have is to stop using BitDefender AV, but as I just bouhgt him I'm not very happy with that.
Can someone from BD team at least reply to our problems ?

I had the same problem. Also just AntiVirus, not Security and Ashampoo Burning (tried 6.60, 6.60, and 7). I opened a case at the support but never got a hint how to fix it. I now uninstalled BitDefender and switched to another AntiVirus as burning is to important for me. This casts a damning light on the BitDefender Support :-(

This is exactly the problem I'm having with BD AV2008 and Ulead Video Studio 11.5. Using MSConfig, I've tried to disable/kill the BD tasks/services livesrv.exe, scommsvr.exe, vsserv.exe and scan.dll only to be denied access. Any new ideas?

I am experiencing the same problems. I now have two machines which lockup when attempting to burn CD/DVD's, using different software. I have just recently installed BD Total Security 2008 on another machine which is now exhibiting the same problems as my other machine. In both cases trying to force quit the programs and restart brings up BDagent.exe as a process which cannot be closed, and the machines require a hard reboot to clear it. This seems to be a significant bug. Unless this can be fixed I will have to reconsider Bitdefender as my choice of virus protection.

I confirmed that it was BitDefender Anti-Virus 2008 services that were causing the XP system to hang when Ulead Video Studio 11.5
attempted to create a DVD. Since I couldn't disable the BitDefender services with MSConfig, I was forced to rename the files. Not all of
them may be responsible, but it was easier to get them all instead of trying to identify which ones or which combinations caused the
issue.

Hopefully someone will come up with a more elegant way to do this, but here's what I ended up doing.

1) Set the Advance Settings on BD AV2008 so it doesn't load on startup.

2) Rename the following files so BD can't run them (I'm using a .BAT file to add the word "BLOCKED" to the beginning of each file name so
they're easy to search for and locate):

C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2008\vsserv.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\BitDefender\BitDefender Communicator\xcommsvr.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\BitDefender\BitDefender Threat Scanner\scan.dll
C:\Program Files\Common Files\BitDefender\BitDefender Update Service\livesrv.exe

3) Restart Windows. Now you can burn CD/DVDs.

Here's what I had to do to get BitDefender back and, unless someone comes up with a better way, is the reason I'll remove BD AV2008 from
this computer and switch to another AV program:

1) Name the four files back to their original names (Another .BAT file).

2) Run the BitDefender Repair utility. This will require you to re-register the software after it's reinstalled and you'll have to go
through one or two reboots before it's completed.

Yah, it's a kludge and the BAT file shows my age, but I stopped programming professionally more than a couple of decades ago.

Credit where credit is due.

After emailing BD support about the problems burning DVDs, they gave me a link and a free upgrade to BD AV2009. I installed it last night.

I can now burn DVDs with Ulead Video Studio 11.5. AV2009 is not bogging down my 3.8 GHz Pentium 4 running XP SP3. The slowdown with AV2008 was obvious when I installed it. So obvious I frequently turned off AV2008.

The interface is different but not a problem. Some of the differences I've noted early on are ...

The BD icon appears on the right side of the task bar even if you select to NOT have BD load on startup.
Unlike AV2008, AV2009 does not have an "Exit" option to turn it off when you right click it on the taskbar.

I've gone from ready to give up on BD AV2008 to willing to give AV2009 a shot.

Hello,

Yes I had fight with same problem .

Problem solution is very simple.

Please disable IMAPI CD WRITING SERVICE from Start menu.........run.......msconfig........services........IMAPI CD BURNING Tool

Because this is a windows XP (o Vista ) service. No necessary if you use another Burning software e.g Nero or Ashampoo. It has a conflict between them while running running Bitdefender.

That's all.

Its working very vel, no freeze, o hang up, and no hard reset.

Exact solution.
