Hi,

I have three licenses for Bitdefender 2008. It works flawlessly on 2 machines but consistently hangs on a full system scan scanning for rootkits. What can I do?

One more thing worth noting since it hangs scanning for rootkits: The machine in question has Innotek Virtualware installed (similar to VMWare) but is *not* running ina virtual machine or running *a* virtual machine at the time of the scan.

Symantec's product does not have this problem but seems otherwise inferior. Still, a scan is better than none at all or none that completes ...

Hi!
I have the exact same problem.
I am astonished Bitdefender has not published yet a solution or patch to this.
I am also surprised to see so few answers to this since I have talked to other users with the same problem.

just an additional info: when this occurs, it happens the BDF window closes and the logo (unlike what it usually does) doesn't show it is working in the lower toolbar, but also desappears. As this happens, it is still working (or at least a part of it) because if I want to look for updates, an error message appears, telling me the update is impossible while the analysis is still in progress, but even opening windows task manager doesn't show it working, so in the end the only solution since I do not know for sure which process it is, I have to shut down and reboot!
Tell us if you find a solution!

same problem here on Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo 1640 Laptop. Scanning for rootkits never stops. Has anybody found a fix ?

Sorry posted in the wrong forum, found this thread using google. I'm using Bitdefender 2009 and uninstalling Kerio Personal Firewall solved my problem. I'm using COMODO instead (installed firewall only), good combination so far.
