Hey,

First of all, thanks for reading my topic.

I have a problem with Bitdefender Internet Security 2008. I have bought one and installed it on 2 pc's: Windows XP Home and Windows Vista.

When bitdefender Security 2008 enabled, and starting Windows Live Messenger, internet crashes.
With crashing I point out to my internet completely falling out. No ping works, ... Also my local connection to my ROUTER falls away (192.168.1.1) for 10 seconds. After that I can connect to 192.168.1.1 again, and then I see at status: 'Physically down'. After a minute, it turns up again, and some time after (30 secs) I am connected to the internet again.

The problem start over and over when MSN get connected.

The problem presist BOTH on my Vista and my XP.

I think the problem has something to do with my ROUTER and BITDEFENDER. I have been looking for a solution for this, but none prevailed.

Information about my ruoter:
Phillips router: ADSL Modem Multiservices PSTN
Model: cia6720nb/18 (I don't understand a thing about this, but I hope it has a meaning to u guys)
4 computers can be linked
it has a wireless function

Please make my day, be my hero wub.gif and help me solving this problem.

Thanks in advance!!

Hello Joost,

Please try this:
Unplug the main powercable of your Philips router for about 1 minute. Plug it back in.
Now right click on the red BitDefender icon near the system clock press on open advanced settings navigate to the firewall section once there click on the zones tab see if there is entry of an network that is untrusted if that is the case double click on it change it to trusted and press on ok. Once you still are in the zones section press on the add button now select the option browse local network set it on trusted press on ok to confirm. Now right click on the Internet explorer shortcut on your desktop and choose for run without add-ons see if IE still crashes.

Best regards
Niels

Niels, thank you for your reply.

I will try it and report back in a few hours. But I think you also misunderstanded me. IE doesn't crash, I don't even use it. I use mozilla firefox at all time. My connection itself crashes: my router when starting MSN while Bitdefender firewall is running.

Hello Joost,

It could also be overheating of your router which can cause disconnections. Can you touch you router? If not the router might been broken. Try this also go to start, connect to,show/display all connections now right click on your network connection and press on repair. For vista you need to go to the network center.

Best regards
Niels
