Hi All,
I am having issues with the BitDefender Firewall, I am using Internet Security v10 Build 247. I have installed VMware workstation V6 and am trying to get a DHCP address for one of my virtual machines and it will not connect to the router which gives out the DHCP addresses.
If I disable the firewall it works (obviously). I have added several different rules to allow access and have gone even as far as the following rule without success.
Select Application : Any
Action : Any
Network Events : All
Direction : Both
Protocol : Any
Source Address : Any
Destination Address : Any
I have also moved the rules to the top of the list in both inbound and outbound sections without any luck.
I added a static address and can then ping the gateway (router) but if I then try to UNC to another physical machine it still does not work. I checked the logs and found the following
2008/03/09 22:01:55.000 [BDFNDISF][FILTER] Denied UDP packet. (dir = OUTBOUND, src addr = 192.168.1.110, src port = 138, dst addr = 192.168.1.255, dst port = 138)
2008/03/09 22:01:55.578 [BDFTDIF][FILTER] Packet received for closed port.
I assumed the above rule would have allowed anything through the firewall.
Has anyone out there successfully used VMware Workstation v6 with this version of BitDefender?
Am I missing something simple?
Mihai T.
Hello, I assume the virtual machine connects to the network through a bridged adapter. If this is the case then it's a known issue for V10 and BD 2008 that the traffic will be bloacked with the FW enabled. As a walkaround you can use NAT and enter the IP-s manually.
