I upgraded BD to Internet Security 2008 a few weeks ago and I find that Microsoft Outlook 2003 seems slower. When I send an e-mail message, even one with just a few lines of text, it takes several seconds to scan the message. Also there seems to be a lot disk operation during this process. There is plenty of RAM available so that is not the cause. Web pages also seem to along time to load. My DSL data rate is 5Mb/sec so that is not the problem. What is going on?

Yesterday I tried to reply to an e-mail and got this message from BD

Information that you defined as personal information in the BitDefender Identity Control module has been detected in an e-mail sent from this computer. The e-mail has been blocked and no personal information has been sent. You can modify the target strings or exclude an e-mail recipient from scanning by accessing Privacy Control > Status > Advanced Settings>Identity Control. E-mail subject: RE: Newsletter 2007 To: "xxxxxxxxxx> Action taken: blocked and deleted Identity Control rule matched: simon This message was generated by the BitDefender Identity Control running on your computer. Please do not reply to this e-mail. Kind regards, The BitDefender Team

What does this mean, recipient x out for privacy.

Evidently you have a 'simon' -named rule in your identity control (under settings on the control panel of BD) in which you stored personal information, presumably related to 'simon'. Therefore, BD followed that rule and washed out the information from the email. If you want to prevent this, delete that rule (and others that you find annoying).

To me, the identity control is an annoying and useless feature so I shut it off, but YMMV.

Dear pestocat,

WinnieP is right. You don't need to delete that rule left click on it and press on exceptions tab now you can add to which mail addresses or websites the information you entered may be send. By the creating of that rule you have also checked smtp.

Best regards
Niels
