This is a long shot, but here goes:
Do you have your email client options set in such a way that a copy of sent emails is saved in the "Sent" folder? If so, this [may] explain why you get an extra email scan each time you send, rather than receive, mail. BD is scanning the email as it is sent, as well as the newly created copy of that email in your sent folder. Try disabling the "Save a Copy of Sent Items" option and send yourself a blank email, and see if that makes a difference. If not, at least you've eliminated one possibility.
Good luck

Well, I do save outgoing mail in the Sent folder but changing that didn't affect the way BD counted (still up by 2). I'm using Outlook 2003 with Win XP.
That got me to experiment and I think I found the problem. If I send a blank email (just a title) BD ups its count by 2 - full stop. If I send a "regular" email with text it also ups the count by 2 but a few seconds later reduces the count by 1.
I started down this path because the first time I brought up this screen all counts were zero so I sent a test email to see what would happen - and of course it was just a quick email with no body - just a title ...
So, I guess there isn't an important bug with the count - just the annoyance of an extra count for blank emails and the overcount and subsequent deduction (?).
There is still the (minor) problem of all the counts being zero until something is scanned while the window is displayed.
If this was the only thing I was experiencing I wouldn't be that bothered. But, I've run into a handful of bugs and I've only been using the product a week. I don't like a quirky security product but I'm still hoping the others get sorted quickly.
Cheers,
Mike
