I purchased Bit defender Total 2008 - Since loading it I have no firewall because it can't load. Tried tech support straight away (Dec 2007) and am still awaiting a reply.

Can you please try this?
Type devmgmt.msc press enter now go to display (view),click on show (display) hidden devices. You will now see a section called non plug and play compatible drivers. Double click on the bdftdif entry that device should be enabled. Go to the driver tab and startup type should be system and status should be started (running). Check also if you see the BitDefender Firewall NDIS filter driver when you go to the network center in vista right click on your default network connection (network card) and see if it is present.
