Full Version: Bitdefender Wreaking Havoc With My Computer

I forgot to remove my old antivirus programs before installing bitdefender so now mcafee and bitdefender are screwing up my computer. I can't really open anything normally, and any program that I manage to open up that exceeds about 1% CPU usage freezes instantly. I can't open BitDefender to change settings or uninstall it, nor can I get to the Add/Remove Programs menu normally (I can in safe mode, but it doesn't work in Safe Mode). Customer Support told me to remove McAfee and then reinstall BitDefender, but I'm a loss as to how I'm supposed to do that when I can't open up the things I need to do that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Niels
Dear Seamus,

You could try this start your computer in safe mode and load a system restore point before you installed BitDefender. Reboot your pc again and follow the instructions in this topic. To remove Mcafee I also recommend that you run BitDefender uninstall tool also. You can download it here. Run it reboot your pc afterwards and install BitDefender again.

Best regards
Niels
