hi folks,

working on the trial for BD total Security 2008. trying the backup feature to backup to a cd-rom.

is there a simple tutorial on how to do this?
i downloaded the manual for BD, but i don't see where the backup feature is described.

i'd prefer not to go to GenieSoft, but i truly can't quite get backup to work.

thanks, rlo
Niels
Dear rlo,

Once you are in the BitDefender Security Center press on backup, press on start back-up wizard press next check now from which files, folders you want to make a backup in the next step you choose where to back-up select cd/dvd press on next, now you set how many times and when the task must be executed if you now press on next the backup process will begin. This is also written in the manual more specificly in the advanced backup administration section and also in basic information section. It is written in this manual.

Best regards
Niels

NIELS,

thanks for the reply - i sort of did these steps. i should have supplied better statement:
1. did all this
2. specified write to a cd-rom burner
3. i have nero-express installed to burn a cd (maybe irrelevant? does BD have it's own burner software?)
4. tries to start the backup
5. gives this message: The system cannot find the file specified!
now,
6. i just checked the Quick Backup (Documents and Settings)
7. with this you get as well: music, videos, etc etc -- the defaults that BD gives you
8. since this is a test machine, i don't have any music, vides, etc etc except for internet favorites and the like

am i getting this message because i don't have these files?
or,
possibly because BD isn't communicating with the cd-rom burner properly?

what do you think?

thanks for helping.

Dear rlo,

If there aren't such files BitDefender can't backup them. In other words it can't find the path. All these files/folders (that you want to backup such as mail,favorites,..) are stored in default folders. BitDefender backup uses its own burnsoftware. Try to check the option other files (added by you) so you can select files that you want to backup.
