Full Version: Scanning Files Is Killing My Pc

Whenever I try to scan a file (right click and press Scan or drag the file to the File Zone) my PC either lags to death or stops for about 3 minutes. dry.gif
It's kind of annoying.
Any input would be thanked.

I'm using Windows XP, AMD Sempron 2300+ (1.4GHz) and 1.3GB RAM, BitDefender Antivirus 2008

I'm not using any, I don't see a reason why I should have one, it's not like I have some private info to hide. wacko.gif

Dear QuizPC

I recommend that you try this open task manager before right clicking on a folder or by dragging and dropping it to the scan graphbar. By pressing ctrl+alt+del (pressing control alt and delete button together) now click on the processes tab. Click twice on the cpu tab now all processes will be sorted on cpu usage. Now perform a scan and write down which process is using lots of cpu.

Best regards
Niels

uiscan.exe and svchost.exe use up the most, it switched between them. wacko.gif
