Since upgrading to 2008 I have experienced these problems for the first time:
Opera ( Ver 9.24 ) displays error 'could not save hotlist file'. Reboot clears the problem for a while but it returns many times a day ( maybe 3-4 times an hour ). Sometimes when I reboot windows cannot close bdagent.exe and suggests I switfh to the other application and close that - bon't know what this means unless its some kind of deadly embrace wiith Opera.
Also, and only since upgrading, Azureus doesn't always close properly. The Opera problem may be more severe when Azureus is running - BD scanning P2P files?
And lastly, sometimes OpenOffice writer does not close properly and my current document is corrupted, which is very bad news.
I cannot prove that BD is responsible for any of this but the timing is significant. So, I decided to uninstall BD 2008 using BD's own uninstall tool. After I had run it and rebooted I checked the registry and found 442 referneces to Bitdefender !!!!!!!!!
If there are any known problems with 2008 that might account for these problems, I would really llike to know so I can revert to V10.
Thanks.

Dear dadooq
You can exclude the opera folder to see if that solves the problem double click on the BitDefender icon click on settins once you are in the BitDefender Security Center go to the antivirus section click on the exceptions tab press on the add button and browse to the opera installation folder. Or you can exclude the part of opera which is used for saving the hotlist.
Yes, BitDefender scans p2p traffic and internet traffic.

Niels, thanks for the reply. I reverted to V10 immediately after cleaning the detritus from the registry. I have not had any problems since then. This is sufficient evidence for me that BD 2008 was the culprit. I understand that the information I provided is not detailed enough to allow anyone at Softwin to replicate the problems but it is not my job to test their software.
The people at Bitdefender have managed to turn a satisfied customer into a very dis-satisfied one and once this happens to a sufficient number of people they will be in the same position as Norton who once had a small, useful application and are now widely discredited.
I know you don't work directly for Bitdefender but perhaps you can forward this to them just to let them know that one more person will be reluctant to trust future upgrades to a product that used to be stable and reliable.
