Upon receiving the latest update to my BitDefender Antivirus 2008 program, I noticed that the number of signatures (found in the Update section) did not change. I rebooted, checked their number again, and noted that the number had updated. I signed on to chat support and they told me that this was an acknowledged bug in the program that should be resolved with the next major program upgrade. This being the case, does this mean that the newest updates don't actually protect our computers until after a reboot?

There was a major Product Update today. Check out if it fixed this bug.
About your question: I don't know, but I believe it's only a minor problem (maybe the signatures are loaded, but the text in the Security Center is not changed).
