Full Version: Internet Security 2008 Sucks

I purchased Internet Security 2008 for three users.
Installed on first machine, seemed to work fine...

Installed on second machine, machine locks up - can't do anything.
I have to hold down power button to shut it down.

And now my first installation is making my machine slow as molasses.
Applications are slow to open and respond. Every click stalls for 1-2 mins.
When i try to open IE7, it takes close to 5 minutes before it will load. Sometimes longer.
I have to reboot to fix, but it progressively gets slower the longer i use my machine.

This sucks!! BitDefender robbed me of $50 bucks and now my machines are F****D. angry.gif

Any solutions to this mess?
Or should I just uninstall this crap software and go back to Norton?
Niels
Dear hotdog

What was your previous antivirus? Did you remove it before installing BitDefender Internet Security? If not you should follow the instructions I gave in this topic. Did you upgraded from a previous BitDefender version? If the answer is yes you should use this specific BitDefender uninstaller. Run it and reboot your pc.
If you previous antivirus was Norton the chance is high that there are many leftovers that can cause conflicts with BitDefender.
I recommend you that you use the BitDefender uninstall tool also and install BitDefender again.

Thanks Niels - I tried all your suggestions before I posted in the forums.
I used the tools about 5 times now... clean registry, then uninstall, then reinstall.
Same thing happens. My machine becomes unresponsive, can't do anything.
I have to reboot in safe mode, then uninstall BD.

Btw - on my first install, the machine had a fresh install of Win XP.
There were no other antivirus apps installed before I installed BD.
I don't understand why BD makes the response times of all my apps so sluggish?

I notice when I stop the process "bdagent.exe" - my machine is fast again.
Is this a known problem to anyone?

Dear hotdog

Do you have other security software installed (excluding antivirus)? I mean running in realtime mode.

Try to reduce the start up programs to do that press the windows button together with r type now msconfig press enter. Click on the start up tab and enter each item that you will find under item for start up on this website. Enter them in the searchfield and press on search. If you see an N or X uncheck the start up item in msconfig. When you exit you will be prompted to reboot your pc do that. Update also network framework on your computer. You can get the latest version here.

Best regards
Niels
