Hello
There is an issue with Bitdefender when trying to stream media to the Playstation 3 if 'Stealth Mode' is set on the firewall.
I have my zone set as a 'Trusted' zone and have also added the IP address of the PS3 as trusted too which is part of my network over a WiFi connection.
When I try to stream media from TVersity to the PS3, Bitdefender blocks it as it think my PS3 (which should be trusted) is Port Scanning.
The only way to get the streaming working is to disable the 'Stealth' option.
So, are the 'Trusted' options actually doing anything in BitDefendeder? I set it my PS3 as trusted yet Bitdefender doesnt trust it, is this a bug?
How can i stream media to my PS3 and keep the Stealth option turned on?
thanks
Wes

So no one knows if it is a bug that a trusted IP on a trusted network gets blocked for "port scanning" if stealth mode is enabled or if it is intended behavior...?

Dear wezman
This is only a user forum.
When you enable stealth mode your computer will be invisible for everyone and will block each request to your computer. Did set your wifi also as trusted zone? By default BitDefender add's it to untrusted. You can edit the rules also by double clicking on it.
Best regards

Hi Niels
Thanks for the reply.
My whole network is added as trusted, so obviously stealth mode does not check if incoming requests are coming from a trusted IP address.
Seems like a massive over sight to me.

Hello wezman,
i think there is a confusion about what stealth actually does. as it is described in the product, it blocks port scans and denies ICMP attempts. the firewall decides that a portscan is conducted against your computer when a certain number of connection requests are initiated in a certain amount of time. it doesn't matter that the scanning IP is part of a network which is set as Trusted in the zones tab. it gets blocked anyway. in other words, it's a security feature.
about he second function of Stealth mode - deny ICMP attemps. as Niels said, it makes you invisible to other computers, meaning that your computer will block the RESPONSE to the ICMP request coming to your PC.
in conclusion, any IP that initiates a port scan to your PC, from a trusted or a non-trusted network, will be blocked.
maybe the PS3 console somehow tries to connect one too many times to the other device...i can't realy say. try to be more specific about your network map, how one device connects to another, give some IPs, the FW settings at that time
thanks
