I am using bitdefender antivirus 2008. When I open the main window for the bitdefender program, and then click on the settings button, and then click on the privacy control tab, it shows my privacy level is set at permissive. I changed it to default, but when I close the window and open it again, it changes back to permissive. I have set up the identity control rules, but the program keeps turning off my identity protection. How can I fix this?

Same issue here. Just been trialing it and came across this problem.

This is the first time I'm using BitDefender product. I just switched to BitDefender Internet Security 2008 today and faced the same problem here. Just couldn't set the privacy control to default mode. The setting changed back to permissive mode every time when it was closed and re-opened again. Can anyone help?

Me too,

I recently install BitDefender Total Security 2008 and am unable to get the Identity Control to remain enabled.

On the good side, I used to use ZoneAlarm and am much happier with Bitdefender, it doesn't pig the PC resources.

I also have the same problem. Has anyone reported this to tech support?

Hello to all,

I'll try to see later today if there are any news about this issue.

Bitdefender sent out an update about a month along with the ordinary antivirus updates, one of those that require reboot. Added some new choices in the Advanced tab amongst others... Anyway, it was that update that added this bug, i could set the identity control to Default before it was installed. And it's the same thing with both my computers at home... I asked on Bitdefenders chat support yesterday and they wanted me to reinstall the product... I'd like Bitdefender to fix this bug instead, now that i see others have the same problem also.

Hello Björn,

Come to think of it, you're right.

At first, when this topic was opened (and this issue was reported), the Identity Control module worked fine to me (I'm using the Romanian version of BitDefender Total Security). After a while, I realized that the Romanian version (possibly other non-English versions also) didn't receive the update that you are talking about (the update that added a few options in the Advanced section). I reported this issue and the next day the update appeared to me also.

And from that very moment I couldn't enable Identity Control. I ended up in the same situation as all of you.
I talked with TechSupport about this issue a few days ago and they said that this issue is being worked on. Now, that I have this new info (the update that caused the bug), I have to talk again with them. Maybe they can find the solution faster. smile.gif

Good that you're talking to the support about this Cris, thanks. I'm using Internet Security 2008 by the way, so then it seems that all three versions are affected (you're using Total Security, and somebody else was using Antivirus 2008).

I'm trialing Antivirus 2009 and noticed that Privacy Control cannot be enabled on this product either. As old as this problem seems to be, I'm a bit disappointed there hasn't been a fix put out by now. Maybe I should continue looking at other products.
