Come to think of it, you're right.
At first, when this topic was opened (and this issue was reported), the
Identity Control module worked fine to me (I'm using the Romanian version of BitDefender Total Security). After a while, I realized that the Romanian version (possibly other non-English versions also) didn't receive the update that you are talking about (the update that added a few options in the
Advanced section). I reported this issue and the next day the update appeared to me also.
And from that very moment I couldn't enable
Identity Control. I ended up in the same situation as all of you.
I talked with TechSupport about this issue a few days ago and they said that this issue is being worked on. Now, that I have this new info (the update that caused the bug), I have to talk again with them. Maybe they can find the solution faster.
