I installed BitDefender Total Security 2008 on 9/24/07. Before doing that, I removed all Norton, Cloudmark, AdAware 2007 and Uniblue Registry Booster programs and have not reinstalled any of them. Since installing, BitDefender has been working well except for the following problem with Outlook Express 2000 (6.0): Very, very frequently, when I double click on a new message to open it, OE closes and can not be reopened until I reboot. When I try to reopen OE the blue OE title box will flash briefly but will not open. It appears to be blocked from opening.
I have a Gateway computer with 1.4 gig Pentium 4, 300 gig hard drive and 1.3 gig memory, using Windows XP Home Edition.
Prior to BD I was using Cloudmark Spam Blocker for Outlook Express and it worked perfectly. I do like BD spam blocker better-if I could only get it to work properly...
BD support has been no help so far.
I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to resolve this problem.
If I can't resolve it soon, how can I remove or disable BD spam and virus blocker so that I can reinstall Cloudmark?
Niels
Hello Ridley

Did you also used the special removal tool for symantec's norton products? Did you also removed the registry entries for Cloudmark Spam Blocker?

Put it your original office cd-rom rerun the installation but choose for a repair installation.

Niels,
Thanks for the info. Yes I used the Norton removal tool. I removed Cloudmark using the control panel "add/remove programs "feature. How can I check registry for residual Cloudmark? Also, in using the Office cd for repair, what should I choose?

Thanks,
Ridley

Hello Ridley

I deleted your double posts.

Ok we can assure now that everything of Norton is removed. I suggest that you dowload ccleaner
Do not forget to uncheck yahoo toolbar during installation. Use the problem option let it scan for problems and fix the problems that are found. As a backup you can also use regcleaner. Install it and check every reference that you find to the developpers of Cloudmark and press on remove selected.

Sorry about that I thought that you had outlook. So that will not work because the office cd-rom is only needed for word, excel, access, powerpoint, outlook. If you had outlook you should only repair outlook.

Best regards
Niels
