About 90% of the times I shut down my computer, I receive a dialogue box on the screen indicating Ending process...bdagent.exe. The message lasts only a second or two and everything shuts down OK. Since it causes no noticeable problems, this is more of a curiosity than anything else although I would love to end that message if there is an easy way to do so. It started when I upgraded to BitDefender Antivirus 2008. Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Warren,

That message shows absolutely nothing wrong with BitDefender. I'm using BitDefender v10 and I also get that message once in a while.

Basically, this is what is happening:
- BitDefender is running fine (while your PC/Windows is turned on)
- you click Shut Down to close your PC
- Windows sends the closing message to all applications
- bdagent gets that message and starts the procedure to close. But it just needs a little time to assure that all BD components close successfully.
- practically, Windows doesn't like that bdagent waits a little and shows you that message to ask you if you want to force bdagent to close.
- in "a second or two", bdagent finishes whatever it is doing and, finally, closes and the message disappears
- Windows continues the shut-down process and turns off your PC

As you can see, there's absolutely nothing to worry about and it's just the way it is.
On the other hand, if that message doesn't disappear at all (bdagent hangs on shut-down), then you have a problem and you have to report it. Otherwise, you're safe smile.gif

Cris,

Thanks for the detailed explanation. The Ending process... dialogue box is still on the screen when the computer shuts down. However, I concur that it must not be anything to be concerned with as everything appears to be just fine and the shutdown process appears to proceed normally otherwise.

Again thanks for your help!!!
