Hi!
I bought Bitdefender Antivirus 2008 for 2 years.
Since the installation, my PC is very long to start about 2-3 minutes and when I'm on the web some pages (pictures...) are long to download!!!
I have uninstalled BD AV 2008 and everything is ok.
I contacted the customer service (2 weeks ago) but any solutions have been found until now, the pb is the same.
What can I do?

Try the following: in the settings window, click the Advance button and uncheck Load BitDefender at Windows startup. Go to the Antivirus settings and click Custom Level, then make sure that Scan HTTP traffic is disabled.

I have ever tried the first solution to accelerate the starting but the pb is the same.
For the second solution, the protection is not total, so...

That is strange, because the early beta versions had that problem, it used to take several minutes to start up Windows Vista, but they fixed it later.Tried uninstall and reinstall?

Hello Mike77
What was your previous antivirus? Did you removed your previous antivirus? If not follow
these instructions.
BitDefender scans by default on boot that could slow down your pc a little bit. If you don't wanted that to happen press on setting on the main screen press on antivirus, shield, custom level and uncheck boot press on ok.
I suggest that you try these suggestions to speed up your boot time. Press the win+r (windows button together with r) type msconfig press enter. Go to the startup / boot tab and enter the names under item for start up / boot on
this website. If you see a N or X or ? you can uncheck these items.
For your browser problem I suggest that delete your temporary internet files. Go to tools,Delete Browsing History, delete files confirm. Press afterwards on F5.
Best regards

Hello Mike77
It could be that there are still leftovers of your previous antivirus. Symantec Norton's products left many files on your hard disc after an uninstall. So what was your previous antivirus?
Try this also press win+r type services.msc press enter. Double click on server and change the startup type to disabled. Click on apply. I also recommend that you take also a look
here.
What other security programs are you running in the background or have you installed on your pc?
Best regards

My previous antivirus was NOD 32 (evaluation version) and I think all the files have been deleted.
I have installed :
- Helios lite
- Spywareblaster
- Spybot

Hello Mike77
I still recommend that you follow my other suggestions by using regcleaner and ccleaner to remove the leftovers. For the link see my previous post.
Are you running spybot and helios both in realtime? If that is the case I recommend that you disable the realtime protection of one of the programs. I recommend that you disable teatimer in spybot s&d.
Best regards

Hello Mike77
Perform also a windows update. Remove unnecessary usb devices. Go to start, control panel, admin tools system configuration. After that go to the boot tab and select boot log. Reboot your pc. Did you defragment your pc recently? If not do that.
Here are the instructions.

Just two days, I got many problems about Bitdefender Total Security 2008. I just install this software for four days and these are the problems:
1. After I install this software, realtime scanner anf firewall didn't work. I tried to click Fix button to activate both of function but it still stop working.
2. From the previous problem, I restart my computer to make these function run properly but after the welcome screen (Windows Vista 32 bit), my system runs heavily slowly so I have to reset my system but result is the computer completely stop working. I try to stop some windows services startup and reopen the system again, the system still crash.
3. I have to format the computer because I didn't have rescure CD (I download it from Bitdefender Website in my country). Install my system and install your product. The result is, my system still crash after welcome screen.
Now, I reformat again and use Bitdefender Internet Security 10 for type these terrible problem for you. I cannot find the same problem in the internet so I have to tell you the problem. I hope you will answer my questions and fix the problems because I want to buy your software and protect my system from virus. Thank you.
(P.S. I appologize for my English but I really want to try problems to you.)

Hello Mike77
Did you already made the boot log? So I can see where your computer got stuck. You can try
this also.
I recommend that you uninstall BitDefender again but by using

Hi Niels,
QUOTE (Niels @ Sep 19 2007, 09:25 AM)

Go to start, control panel, admin tools system configuration. After that go to the boot tab and select boot log.
I don't find this boot log switch on my machine (XP Home SP2). Is it for Vista only? Is there a similar switch on XP?

You asked also how to get that log. So I am waiting for both logfiles. It wasn't very clear if you also wanted to make such a log file.

Hello.
Looks like i'm having the same problem. I'm running Bitdefender Antivirus 2008 on Windows Vista Business and at startup Windows just freezes for a couple of minutes before loading the startup items. During this time, it doesn't respond to any input (mouse or keyboard).
I'm sure this is Bitdefender's fault because I've uninstalled it for a couple of days and the problem disappeared. After reinstalling it again today, the problem appeared after the first reboot.
Sometimes it freezes even during the log-on screen (after i choose which user to load), but I don't know if this is caused by Bitdefender or Vista itself.
Any sugestions? Thanks.
