tried turning off system restore and removing restore points but that didn't work. scan originally got stuck at the mountpointmanagerremotedatabase file, but after deleting that, it got stuck scanning just the folder. the only thing left in the folder was the log file which i can't touch or do anything with, even change the permissions.
