Hey all,

See also this thread and this thread.

It appears that the BitDefender AntiPhishing toolbar since a recent update within the last few days has started causing FireFox 3 (in my case it occurred on both 3.0.3 and then 3.0.4 which updated yesterday) to crash at seemingly random times. Crashes occur on page loads, on activity within a page (such as typing) and even when the computer is not in use for a couple minutes, and FireFox for no apparent reason simply closes.

Disabling the AntiPhishing toolbar from Tools > Addons successfully relieves the problem.

The issue appears to occur both on Vista x64 (per the threads linked above) and XP Pro x64 (which I can attest to personally), but I have not (yet) seen any complaints from a 32-bit OS user, and since they are more common I'm inclined to believe it's only affecting 64-bit Windows.

I can't think of anything else relevant to post, if you need more details I'll see what I can provide.

Regards,

Nakor

Once more. I also have a Vista (Business - 32 bit) system with a faulty BD.

Everytime Firefox closes, it crashes. That is, until I disabled the bitdefender antphishing toolbar. With the toolbar de-activated, the problem is gone. This all started after BD software update, some two weeks ago.

I've reported this, incl error log to BD support. No answer (as usual).

Ok guys, I installed BD total security 2009 and the antiphishing toolbar is making my firefox 3.0.4 crash every time i try to close the program.

I disabled the anti-phishing toolbar in the add-ons window. Now the problem doesn't happen again.

Can the guys at bitdefender do something about this?

Btw, I'm using vista home premium 32-bit.

It's also happening to me. If this problem remains until the end of my trial period, I'm definitely not buying BD, obviously...

Note: I'm using Firefox 3 on Vista x64

ditto for me on 64-bit Vista home premium.

So I just disabled the BD Antiphishing toolbar and the problem went away.
It's not a "got to have feature", but it would be nice if it worked without this annoyance.

Ah! So, this is what's making my usual rock-solid Firefox to crash! It locks up every so often for me, causing me to halt the process. I am using Vista 32 bit.

I didn't even know this was the root cause--I have two other issues that brought me here. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)
