I have a brand new computer with Vista and I saw that Bitdefender Antivirus 2009 was available, so I uninstalled Bitdefender 2008 (dutch) and installed Bitdefender Antivirus 2009 (englisch). When installing Bitdefender 2009 there was a little strange message: "encounterd a critical error" but the installation seems ok. Bitdefender Antivirus 2009 was working wonderful. But later (the same day) I had several moments when my Windows Vista crashed (Blue Screen) so I had to start up my PC several times. Finally I uninstalled Bitdefender 2009 and installed the antivirus version 2008 again, but that was not working any more. I think the uninstall of 2009 was not working correctly. I also could not uninstall 2008 any more or even install it again. At last I had to reinstall my complete Windows Vista again.
I'm afraid to install Bitdefender again and for now I have the antivirus on it that came with my new PC (Panda). I also send a question to Bitdefender helpdesk, but there was no reply.
Can anybody tell me when it is safe to install Bitdefender Antivirus 2009 on Vista again.

Hi Dude, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Can I suggest you to install a little more reach version like BDIS2009? I got it on my laptop with Vista OS without any crashes. Id had BDIS 2008 working fine before as well. I haven't used Antivirus version to tell you whether it was stable or not. I haven't bad experiences with BDIS program. Note to choose a proper version accordingly to your O/S system: there are 32-bit and 64-bit. What's your O/S ? But learn first its requirements in BDs home page or help file - maybe you have a shortage of memory RAM - check them out. You must know that only one such the antivirus and an internet guard software with its own firewall can be installed to avoid potential conflicts - you may have something already preinstalled together like Windows system when you bought the computer e.g. at Tesco's, ready to start and work, and then you've been trying to install a second similar type of antivir soft - that's very important! Just the last suggestion: when I was upgrading DIS2008 up to v2009 I used special tool BD uninstaller available here with an instruction how to do that
http://kb.bitdefender.com/KB333-en--How-to...itDefender.html
Such the type of software, like hardware drivers, must be properly uninstalled before to run the installation process again.
My steps and experience:
-First I uninstalled porogram running its own uninstallation from Control Panel Install/Uninstall program. After when prompted I reboot and then I run the downloaded uninstaller tool and then rebooted second time. Just to be sure everything is cleaned out I run it the second time once again and I was surprised that uninstaller's window posted some files that hadn't been cleaned out at the first run and it was done at this time. It could be that some of BD services were left and still were working and therefore files couldn't be erased at the first time. So run it twice and then, after the final rebooting, install BDIS2009. Afterwards such the painstaking work I haven't met any conflicts and problems with my BDIS that you can find there a lot of them in this BDs forum website. So, just I can be a lucky man? Try this way out. Be in a team of happy bunny guys (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

Good luck!
