Hello,
Since i installed Windows Xp Pro x64 edition i have some problems with updating windows trough the Windows Update site. (update.microsoft.com) .. it gives me an error number and won't install updates.. Also the Automatic Update in windows never shows up.. The only thing that fixes this problem is completly disable all modules of bitdefender (antivirus, firewall, parental control, privacy control etc..) After disabling bitdefender completly i can run windows update with no problems.. So most likely bitdefender is the problem. I hope someone has a fix for this problem without disabling bitdefender completly , because i think it not very safe ^^ Sorry for my bad english.. Kind Regards, Frans PS: On my dad's system (he runs Windows XP 32bit) he can update windows without problems even with the same bitdefender version completly enabled.. |

Hello Frans,
Can you please do this right click on the red BitDefender icon near the system tray press on open advanced settings. After that navigate to the firewall section. Select the traffic tab.First press on edit profile now look for entries called svchost.exe they all should have the status off allow. If not change it. If it still fails: Press on the add button. Press on browse now navigate to the windows folder, system 32 folder and select wuauclt.exe. By action select permit press on ok. Kind regards, Niels |

Hello Niels,
Thank you very much! My problem is solved now! There were some firewall rules of svhost.exe that were on disallow.. after putting them all on allow i could use Windows Update without any problems! Thanks again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Kind regards, Frans |
