Recently i've noticed that my develoment machine is running very slow. Looking Antivirus Shield (real-time scan) statistics i noticed that it is constantly scanning files that i've had excluded for a long time (since last version of bitdefender).
So after investigating and trying out a few things, it seems that the Exceptions feature in Bitdefender Internet Security 2008 is not working at all in conjunction with the real-time scanner. I've attached some screenshots that show my settings and bitdefender scanning files it should not. - 1.png: my realtime protection settings - 2.png: my exceptions settings (note: path 'C:\Documents and Settings\Oliver\.IntelliJIdea70' and extension '*.jar') - 3.png: real-time statistics showing that bitdefender is scanning files in C:\Documents and Settings\Oliver\.IntelliJIdea70 - 4.png: real-time statistics showing that bitdefender is scanning jar files This is a serious problem for my and i'm going to have to turn real-time scanning off or limit it to a few file extensions in the realtime protection settings. Please advise on any workarounds or where i may be missing something. Cheers Oliver

Same problem here. The exceptions feature doesn't work at all now (which makes this software slow to the point of being unusable on my machine). With every new version it's one step forward, two steps back. Don't worry, though, the Bitdefender programmers will have this fixed in a few months, if past experience is anything to go by. Maybe some day, with all the the millions they are raking in, they will hire a few quality control people.

Exceptions are not working for me either which means I cannot access some software until they fix it which I hope is soon. I contacted customer support about it but they have never responded. I like BD but I am not at all happy with their customer support. |

I am having the same problem. I entered a path to a folder I wanted excluded from scanning. It was under the Antivirus Exceptions tab. It was working fine until just recently. Now it doesn't work anymore. I haven't changed anything. Why is there no response to this topic from BitDefender?

I'm also having this problem. Are there any solutions or fixes?
I hope it'll be fixed soon because I always have to disable real-time protection when I get into the folder which shouldn't be scanned. |

I have the same problem! I want to exclude directories with log files and scans from document scanning software
(large tiffs and 100000+ log files) and vba scripts blocked by Bitdefender. Bitdefender ignores all exceptions settings. I contacted the german support and received the following answer on 14. On the 4th of July (40 days ago) leoliver received the reply "The issue that you have reported has been acknowledged by our team and is currently being worked on for a fix. As soon as we will have reached a solution, you will be notified via email. The fix will be done by means of automatic update and won't require any additional action from your part." This is no exact translation of the German reply, but has the exactly the same meaning. Is it such a monstrous problem to tell a software to ignore a certain path or extension;-) |

This major bug (excuse me, I meant "issue," as they like to call them) has been known to Softwin for over a month and a half and over the past week they have released over 17 megabytes of auto-updates. Guess what? The problem STILL hasn't been fixed!! One more reason why I won't be renewing my Bitdefender subscription--I'm tired of paying money to be a beta tester for Softwin. Is Softwin going to extend my subscription for the month and a half (and counting) that I have been unable to use Bitdefender because of this bug? Not a chance! This is a disgrace, and there is no other way to put it.
