I cannot get bitdefender 2008 to run anymore - it says "BitDefender Services are not responding..." I have rebooted many times, no love, I have opened up BD to configure, but nearly everything is greyed out. This happened before, but a reboot fixed it....any clues how I get BD 2008 running again?

Same problem here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
Ran a repair which worked until the next reboot (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) |

Well after submitting the info they needed, I'm happy to say all is well again with Bit Defender... I had to uninstall it with a supplied program from BD and then reinstall from a supplied program... Write to customer support and they will help you...

I'm having the same issue, even after doing 4 repair installs. Immediately after the repair everthing is fine, but after doing get "Updates", Total Security 2008 is hosed.
I'm running on Windows XP Pro SP3. To me, it seems like an update problem with this particular system (probably having issues replacing/updating key DLLs or EXEs). IMHO removing and reinstalling should NOT be required if TechSupport can solve this on a few systems. I'm awaiting a response to my TechSupport case...... I went to the website and re-downloaded a more up-to-date install for Total Security 2008 and installed it over top of my non-functioning Total Security 2008.
This resolved the issue for me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) Note: I did not do a removal first... This post has been edited by JPawling: Jul 18 2008, 07:14 PM |

Hello JPawling, happy all is well again on your end with Total Security 08... For me it was just the Anti-Virus that I have only that wasn't working but all is ok here on my end..

Hi all
I'm a Computer Engineer and our shop has just started selling Bit Defender... now i have been disapointed with the AV so far as ive had the same problem as alot of people. Alas I have found a fix which so far has fixed this problem everytime WITHOUT rebooting or reinstalling... The fix is all follows: 1. Goto start then run 2. Type "services.msc" then press enter. 3. In the list are 4 Bit defender services. 4. Go into the properties for each service, set all of them to Automatic and click "start". 5. After all 4 services have been started, close "Services.msc" window. Bit Defender should start running normaly again. *Note* not all services may be stopped or set to manual, normaly just the "BitDefender Virus Shield" will be stopped. This should hopefully sort most people out, i'm very disapointed that BitDefender staff have not figured out how to counter this properly yet. Let alone stopped it from happening all together. hope this helps, Tom/Fyte |
