I have also Internet security 2008 and have the same problem. I have upgraded today to this version. A few hours had no problem updating. I have also windows xp sp2. The bitdefender Icon disappears too. I get a window notify at start for a few second saying my computer is not protected. But it then goes away.
I may reinstall tomorrow to see what happens.

Yes I'm getting the "HTTP error 404" Error when updating!
And the Plugins update never complete!
Is there any alternative server to update from or should I uninstall and back to BT 10

I had installed Internet security 2008 the day before yesterday, first it updated nicely then started to run to update error 404 file: netsf.info which resides in firewall file. yesterday the update started working by itself and today again the update error.
I have posted a request for help to the support service, I guess I should wait until Monday for the reply.
By the way I am running the AV on two PC's the update error occurs on both of them, may be my router or the BiteDefender server or ??? but it is not the conflicting applications.

Hello

I am only a volunteer but I can download updates without any problems. I also use BitDefender Internet Security 2008.
My default server is http://upgrade.bitdefender.com

You can try the following servers:

http://upgrade.bitdefender.com

In the meantime you can download the updates here.

Best regards

Hallo Niels,

I altered the download locations as you said. It did not helped. Downloading the weekly update may be an option if I do not get a reply from support department soon. Thank you any way.

aaaaaaaaaah here we go!! (IMG:http://forum.bitdefender.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I used http://update.bitdefender.com but with no luckk same error appeared but used:
http://upgrade1.bitdefender.com as Primary
http://upgrade2.bitdefender.com
and updates downloaded successfully (IMG:http://forum.bitdefender.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Maybe the Default server is having problems with my location...I don't know
Note that: I don't think that the updates available in the site include the plugins updates..I think it only include virus definitions...

Thanks anyway Niels.!!!

Guess what: I did nothing else and around the time Ibrahim is mentioning the update service started running on both of my PC's all by itself. So may be the timing is coincidental with changing the update locations.
Any way it is nice to hear other people if something goes wrong.

Adding to earlier comment: Had the same Error 404 again, changing the update locations helped me.
Thanks Niels for good advise and Ibrahim for validation.
I hope this helps others.

great farbar,
then please Niels pin this topic or write a new one with the server alternatives, so users can find it easily..

ALSO I advice Bitdefender team to redirect the primary upgrade server to one of which is really working for all(like:h**p://upgrade1.bitdefender.com, h**p://upgrade2.bitdefender.com ) for the mean while until you solve the problem with problematic servers...

THANKS GUYS!!

Hello Ibrahim

It must be some kind of a local problem because I could update without any problems during these days.

Ok I will make a sticky with the alternative servers.

The problem is that this is a user forum where only sometimes virusresearchers are active but no support people.

I am not sure about it but I think that the manual download packages just include virus and malware signatures. Just as you said.

Glad that I could help you.

Best regards
Niels

Hello,

There are some problems with our update servers. The problem is being worked on, and we hope they will be back online as soon as possible.

In the meantime, you can manually download signature updates from here: http://www.bitdefender.com/world/Main/view...ts-Updates.html

We are sorry for any inconveniences.
Cris.

It is working fine now
Should I set the update server back to default or should I stay with http://upgrade1.bitdefender.com/ (primary) and http://upgrade2.bitdefender.com/ (Alternate)?

Thanks

It really doesn't matter. Even if there are some small delays between the servers (caused by synchronization delays), eventually all servers will deliver the same updates for all products, and the delays are not bigger than one hour. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Cris,
Do you know anything about the issues about Steam and Bitdefender?
Even though I was on game mode, it was hard to connect to a server. When I clicked a server, it said server was not responding, and 2-4 minutes later then I could join.
I even did add Steam to exceptions and same result. In addition, when I was done playing, I could not get to the Internet. For instance, when I clicked Firefox or IE, I have no connections for 3 to 5 minutes, but on my system tray I was still connected. On the other hand, when I played Crysis(not Steam), I did not get any of these hassles. I can play it whenever I want without problems at all.

Some said they turned BD off, so that they could play Steam.
Is there any solution about this issue?

Thanks
