Hi did this work for you guys? How can we know if your dev team already made a fix and available via update.

Bitdefender 2012 internet total security user here

Thank you

I e-mailed tech support about this issue as I couldn't play MapleStory. I promptly received a solution and it works so I thought I'd share.

Please note that this is a known issue and the development team is working on
a fix that will be available via the automatic update module without any
intervention from your end.
Until then, as a workaround, please follow the instructions below:
In order to further investigate this issue, we will first need to set the
BitDefender Update on Prompt so the changes will not be reverted upon auto
updating. Please follow the steps below:

1. Set the BitDefender Updates on prompt;
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode.

4. Browse to:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder.

5. Locate the file "avc3.sys"and rename it into "avc3.sy_";
6. Restart the computer in Normal mode;
7. Once the product will want to Update, please make sure to select only the
"Signatures update" option and not the Product Update one, as that will
replace the file you renamed in Safemode;
8. Check if the issue still occurs.

NOTE:
If you are not seeing the file extensions please go to Start -> Control Panel
-> Folder Options -> View tab -> uncheck the option "Hide extensions for
known file types".

[how to set BitDefender updates on prompt]
- open BitDefender GUI;
- click on 'Settings';
- go to 'Update';
- select 'Prompt before downloading';
- click on 'Home';

[How to restart in Safe Mode]
- Restart the computer (Windows Start button - Turn Off - Restart);
- Press the 'F8' key several times before Microsoft Windows begins to load;
you need to press 'F8' until you will be displayed a text menu;
- Select 'SAFE MODE' in the text menu and press 'Enter';
- Wait while Windows loads in Safe Mode; this process ends with a confirmation
message; click 'OK' to acknowledge.

Hello (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

We are aware of this issue. Actually some anti-cheating solutions consider Bitdefender as a threat, when our product just want to scan those components for malware.

When this is happening, it will try to stop it and since our product has a strong self-protection, the game itself will be affected in some cases.

We are working on a permanent fix this. Until then, please use the workaround described here:

http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...st&p=136323

Thank you.

Hello (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

That is a temporary workaround until the fix is delivered via Automatic Updates.

You can use it until the update is released.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Take care.

Hi, I am also having the same problems with Combat Arms; another Nexon game the uses hackshield. Is there a way to get an email update onto when it is fixed and will the temporary solution also work for Combat Arms?

If anyone has a link to another forum that answers my question I was appreciate it a ton!!! thnx (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hello (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

A product update was released. Your build should be 15.0.38.1604(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

Changelog:

The issue was not resolved, the game continues to crash! Attached File  about.jpg ( 236.37K ) Number of downloads: 4

Computer specs:Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz CPU, 64-bit windows 7 ultimate, 8 Gb DDR2 RAM, 9800 GTX+ GPU, and a 25mbs/25mbs cable internet..

This never happened before I installed BitDefender and works perfectly fine on my SSD that doesn't have bitdefender on it; using the same computer.

I attached a photo showing BD being up to date and a link to a video of what happens doen below ↓

Hi,
I am using Bitdefender Internet Security 2011 version 14.0.30.357 and having the same issue. It was ok last few months until the recent Bitdefender updates.

I bought the 2012 version but I gave up with so many issues. I downgraded to 2011 version and was so great. Now any hackshield games just crash and is acting as listed in this post.

Can someone tell if this is fixed in 2012? Maybe I should give it a try as I have like 600+ days left in my license.. arrg what a $$ waste. Now I am using Security Essential and Maplestory (hackshield games) works!!!

Please advice.

Hello (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Welcome to our forums!

Please follow these steps to install Bitdefender 2012 and it should run properly with the latest updates.

1. Use our uninstall tool in order to uninstall/delete any previous BitDefender related files:

http://www.bitdefender.com/uninstall

Access the link and when the window with the BitDefender file appears, please choose the "Save to disk" option. Save the tool on the PC, run it(right click and select "Run as administrator" - for Windows Vista/7) and restart the computer when prompted.

2. Download and install the software and then run it to clean your computer's registry and temporary files:

http://download.piriform.com/ccsetup318.exe

http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/usin...gistry-cleaning

Once the cleaning is complete it's recommended to restart your computer.

If you have a registry cleaner already installed, you can use that one.

3. Install BitDefender using the latest installation kit available for download. Please note that you need to download (save) the installation kit prior to running it.

The BitDefender Internet Security 2012 installation kit can be downloaded from here:

http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/in...r_isecurity.exe

The installer should automatically retrieve your license key so you will not need to enter it again during the setup.

For more information on the registration process please read:

http://www.bitdefender.com/support/How-do-...ersion-844.html

Should you need further information, please do not hesitate to reply to this message.

Have a nice day.

Hi,
I have uninstalled 2011 and installed 2012 as instructed. Seems this did the trick. I am hoping other people are reporting the same good news. I still need to test other stuffs to make sure no slow down browsing the internet.

So far Maplestory and TeamFortress 2 working fine without game mode on.

Hope it does not break down the road with future updates as it did to Bitdefender 2011.
