There are a number of recomendations to solve issues in BD 2011 that recomend the "repair" option from BD 2011 Program files. Screen one or two says "save your settings" first....have looked through help sections and searched 'settings' and/or 'settings backup' and can find nowhere that explains how to backup current BD 2011 settings prior to running "repair" ?

Where or what screen can I find the option to backup my settings before running BD "repair" ?

Thanks....Tim

Hi Tim,

The feature you are referring to is no longer available since the 2010 version. However, as many of our users requested it, we have a tool that will export your settings so you can uninstall/reinstall then import them back.

Check your email associated with your forum account for instructions and the tool you requested. Ticket ID: 201012011019688. If you have any further queries feel free to contact me at any time.

Kind regards,

Hi Daniel

By reading this post it seems that the tool is very beneficial, so I'm also interested in it and would be thankful if you send me too.

Also I want to know can this tool also export settings of previous versions 2010,2009 and 2008 or there are separate tools for them? And if someone don't have the tool, what files should be copied before uninstall/reinstall/repair?

A favorable consideration is solicited. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Can I copy the "settings folder" from the below path for doing so manually?

C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2011\settings

Hi ONT,

I will think about it before sending you the file (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Kidding, have sent you the tool via email at the address associated with your forum account.

Ticket ID: 201012021025005.

Regarding the same tool for previous BitDefender versions I'm afraid I don't have any available, at least not at this time.

@Ticket ID: 201012021025005.

Received. Many thanks for your kind favor and hoping the same in future.

I s######est that the tool should display "Finish" pop-up upon completion of export/import of BD settings.

Hi Tierix,

Be kindly informed that the average response time on either forums or e-mail is 48 hours. I am trying my best to answer all of you in a decent time frame, however, sometimes my answer may come a little later. Please accept my apologies if this will ever be the case.

I have created a ticket and sent you the tool via e-mail. If you have any further queries feel free to contact us at any time!

Ticket ID: 201012031011226.

Issue please: I saved my settings exactly as you mentioned before uninstalling BDTS2011. I reinstalled it but then couldn't import my settings! I didn't get any error message but it didn't do anything, even after a restart.

I took a screenshot of the options I chose right before clicking on "run".

Screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/7z7drpjm

any ideas?
thnx

Hi Daniel

@Regarding the same tool for previous BitDefender versions I'm afraid I don't have any available, at least not at this time.

If I copy the "Settings folder and files from Online Backup Folder" before repair/re-install of Bitdefender predecessor versions (2008, 2009 and 2010) and then paste them manually in their respective paths, will it work or there is some special procedure for doing so, till your esteemed labs developed the tool for them also?

Will above said also work for Bidefender 2011 as you see Tierix has faced issue by restoring them from tool?

No ONT, it will not work. The previous versions of BitDefender (2009,2010) are not designed the same way as the 2011. Also they are not using the same XML files to save the settings. It may be possible to do it manually, however I do believe that it's time consuming and that it would be easier for you you to do the settings again after re-install.

@Tierix: you are the first one that had issues with that tool. What exactly happened ? What was the error message you received when trying to restore the settings ?

No error messages. It imported but when I went back to BD, it wasn't my settings, it was default settings

Can I also kindly ask to have a copy of the back-up tool?

Can the back up tool be of use if I upgrade, for example, from BD2011 Internet Security to BD2011 Total Security? I am about to do upgrade some of my computers, that tool will be a great help if it will work with my scenario.

Thanks!

Edison

Hi,

@Mordorf: the requested tool sent in response to the email you sent to Us with ID: 201012131029038. Please check your email and let me know if you need any further clarification about the tool and how to use it.

@Mr.NoSide: email sent to the address associated with your Forum account. Check your Inbox and let me know if you need any further assistance. Your ticket ID is: 201012171029329.

@Tierix: Do you have all three files contained in the archive I've send you in the same location when executing the tool ? Considering the other issue you have with BitDefender (streaming using a PS3), I would recommend you to schedule and perform a remote session. Please send me via PM a phone number along with a convenient time when you can be reach.
