Hello myarmando

2 firewalls have a very high chance to cause conflicts. That isn't only the case with Softwin's BitDefender solutions. I am only a volunteer so I don't work for Softwin. I just wanted to give possible temporary solutions you can try.

Regards
Niels

I will ask how far they already are for fixing the issues. People of Softwin do monitor this forum but most of the time they aren't logged in.

Yes I have tried the repair method also. The only new program I have installed in the last two or three weeks is Bitdefender 2008 and it started happening that same day. A couple of other programs that I use all the time are:

Utorrent 1.7.2
Cloudmark antispam for Outlook 2007
Active Sync 4.5 for a Treo 700
Webroot Spysweeper

I restart the computer and everything seems fine for ??? Last time I tried to reply the ethernet connection stopped and I lost all the posting and have to start over again. If it happens this time I will copy to a word doc and repaste after reboot. I am wondering if using Utorrent and the program just crashes and instead of the program closing and having to restart again, they just stop all traffic and make you reboot to get things right. This odveously as design program flaw with BitDefender 2008 Internet Security.

When the tech suport guy said that we could try BD 2008 to try to fix your problem he wasn't to optomistic, he admitted that they have had lots of issues with the program. I think many people will be having this problem soon. Maybe the program has a problem with Nvidia chipsets and mobos based on the chipset drivers. Maybe there should be a warning: doesn't work with nvidia chipset or Display drivers or Bitorrent clients. That would really boost sales!!

My connection is still up, so here is the upload, maybe

My Windows is hanging after a minute when I'm using uTorrent v1.7.2. This is with Bitdefender Internet Security 2008.

Hello mihai_romanian

That is only for BitDefender Internet Security 2008. BitDefender Antivirus 10 doesn't have a firewall. To do that in BitDefender Internet Security 10 you have to do this open BitDefender go to firewall, traffic, reset profile, follow the steps again and select trusted lan and press on ok.

Regards
Niels

Hello

Go to the zones section press on the add button select network. You have to enter the ip-address to obtain that kind of information do this go to start, run,at the run dialog box type cmd press enter after that type
ipconfig /all press enter. What you find after ip-address you have to enter after ip-address and after mask what you find after subnetmask. If you are not in a network select computer. Or you can select the option browse local network and select your network press on add.Select trusted and press on ok.

Keep in mind that I am only a volunteer.

Hi Niels
Thanks for your reply. I did not mean to offend you. But in my case I am not using BitDefender firewall, but only the Windows one.
And 2008 was not working for me. At this point in time I will stick with Antivirus Plus Ver 10.
So we all hope they come up with a solution to the problem,
All the kudos to you for helping out while not working with Softwin.

According to the second e-mail I received from the Bitdefender support there is a known problem and they are working on an update.

Well, I had some problem with my connection and I solved it by adding my ADSL modem to the trusted zone. What kind of internet connection do those of you with problems have?

I also have this problem with BitDefender Internet Security 2008. Connection drops within minutes.
I have an AMD dual core 6000+, MSI K9N Platinum with an Nvidia chipset.
The only way I can get a stable connection is to uncheck the "Bitware Firewall NDIS Filter Driver" from my Network controller properties. I need my firewall! Please fix it.

I have recenently tried BD IS 2008, as it seemed like a nice security package for 64bit Windows XP

I can confirm i have this issue too.
Definatly seems to mainly affect PC's with nForce chipsets...

Perhaps a compatibility issue with the Nvidia network bus enumerator in the device manager?

Anyway, Will be monitoring this thread for news on any updates...

System spec:

Asus M2N-SLi Deluxe (nForce 570)
Athlon X2 5000+
2x 7600GT
2GB Ram
WinXP Pro x64 Edition (all latest drivers/service packs, fixes ect...)

bluesprite,

As far as internet connection goes, i'm connected to a netgear firewall router, which is connected to a cable modem.
All via ethernet.
I did add my LAN connection to the safe zone strait after installing Bitdefender, then about 15mins later, all the internet stopped responding as has been described earlier in this thread...

All works fine with the windows firewall, and previous firewalls on 32bit windows. Would seem unlikely that my hardware is the problem, Seems more to do with a problem in the Bitdefender firewall driver itself...

I tried to do an uninstall while Bitdefender had the internet lockup... it got stuck... (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and all got a bit messy... I had to reinstall and quickly uninstall again to get the software removed...

If anyone is trying to temporarily remove Bitdefender, it may be advisable to try the uninstall while your internet still works. It seems the network/firewall drivers wont uninstall when the internet has crashed.

Thanks,

Feisty

Hello you all,
Just join't this forum for the same problem, had several problems upgrading from AV Plus 10 to BD Internet Security 2008 on my new 2007 PC.
At first : psapi.dll was lost, no startup from IE7 and several programs. Was able to fix this (more in other threads).
Now losing internet connection within 4-6 minutes. Tried it with only Windows Firewall and BD Firewall disabled, problem persisted.
Just tried it with BD complete shut-down for PC Security ands Network Security, problem persisted.

With all this losing connections my Windows freeses, only way to re-animate is power-off.
These problems were with Outlook 2003, IE7 and Newsleecher 3.8 Final. My system is Win Xp, completely up to date.

Will go for the problably working option I read before, uninstalling (thanks for the tip to do it very fast...) and returning to AV Plus V10. (typing this from my second 1999 Dell 550 Mhz PC, which, can't explain, works bug-free with Internet Security 2008)......? :-)
I'm very disappointed that BD makes an attractive Internet Security 2008 (more options then AV Plus v10) but can't garantee it's bugfree.... :-((

Well, I'm back to AV Plus 10....again psapi.dll went corrupted during this action....

Remedy : first copy the original one from windows/system32, after the original is corrupted rename that one (other actions Windows doesn't allow) and copy back the saved copy.
Good Luck with this, should be, unneccesary actions.....:-(
