I called tech support on Thursday 8/23 upset at BD 10 and the BDMCon: A Resource is not available problem, they suggested installing BD11, and I did. I am using BitDefender Internet Security 2008 and after about ten minutes sometimes and maybe a couple of hours the Internet traffic stops and I cant get to my server connected to my network here at home. All ethernet traffic is completely stopped. I have uninstalled the ethernet drivers and reinstalled and updated and still the same problem. I still have this problem. Windows XP 2005 Media Center all updates Outlook 2007 and Office 2007 Utorrent These Programs are on all the time Hardware, Asus A8n Mobo, nvidia 4 chipset, amd 4800+, 2gb memory, Nvidia video card 6800GT: latest Nvidia chipset and video drivers Does anyone else have this problem? This problem had from version 10 and it only execute with BitDefender Internet Security. I contacted with support team last year but to now have no fix. I think driver (file .sys) of BitDefender block internet when it is crashed.
@ Jeff B : You need restart computer when internet connection is error. |

The suggestion, by Crem, to restart the PC works, but only for a short while. |

Um i'ved recently experienced something simillar with BD AV Plus v10:when i close all BD related exe-s with Task manager my internet goes crazy,i can't visit any website dued to high lag so i need to restart. If u ask yourself why would i close all BD services, well cause i have a weak CPU(1,5 GHz overclocked)and i need the extra juice for some programms (IMG:http://forum.bitdefender.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .So is there a fix or could it be just a nice lil worm like worm blaster that messes up the internet connection?
Cheers! @PS:could it be caused by the settings of BD like Protection level set to max and all other modules?I'll try setting them to Default and i'll give feed back right da way (IMG:http://forum.bitdefender.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) . No it ain't dat (IMG:http://forum.bitdefender.com/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) . This post has been edited by mihai_romanian: Aug 26 2007, 08:42 PM |

You can always try this instead of rebooting your pc: go to start, make connection, show all connections, rightclick on your internet connection and choose repair. This is a temporary solution that you can try. Post also more details what kind of connection, router manufacturer, network card, driver version,etc...

Yes I have tried the repair method also. The only new program I have installed in the last two or three weeks is Bitdefender 2008 and it started happening that same day. A couple of other programs that I use all the time are:
Utorrent 1.7.2 Cloudmark antispam for Outlook 2007 Active Sync 4.5 for a Treo 700 Webroot Spysweeper I restart the computer and everything seems fine for ??? Last time I tried to reply the ethernet connection stopped and I lost all the posting and have to start over again. If it happens this time I will copy to a word doc and repaste after reboot. I am wondering if using Utorrent and the program just crashes and instead of the program closing and having to restart again, they just stop all traffic and make you reboot to get things right. This odveously as design program flaw with BitDefender 2008 Internet Security. When the tech suport guy said that we could try BD 2008 to try to fix your problem he wasn't to optomistic, he admitted that they have had lots of issues with the program. I think many people will be having this problem soon. Maybe the program has a problem with Nvidia chipsets and mobos based on the chipset drivers. Maybe there should be a warning: doesn't work with nvidia chipset or Display drivers or Bitorrent clients. That would really boost sales!! My connection is still up, so here is the upload, maybe |

I have gone back to Version 10 again, as it is just not feasible to reboot/repair every 10 minutes or so. I can reinstall to test specific procedures, but until then it's V10 for me!
My PC details are: Athlon 4200 x2 CPU KN8 Ultra Motherboard (NForce 4) Nvidia network card NForce 4 Ethernet controller. Driver version 60.2.4.0 Windows XP Pro SP2. Windows update is set to auto. Account is part of admin group. Bluetooth Network (Widcomm Bluetooth Software 5.1.0.1700... used for Skype earpiece). Skype is configured to NOT start with windows. 20mbit Cable connection with Buffalo Wireless Router (router and connection work for other PCs on network). Affected PC is using wired connection. Hope that helps! |

Similar that BitDefender series 2008 really does not work with chipset from nVIDIA.
At me such configuration: the processor-DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2500 MHz 4800 +; mainboard Abit KN9 nVIDIA nForce 570 SLI, AMD Hammer; Video: nVIDIA GeForce 6600 PCI-E; Microsoft Windows Vista Business 64; House local network + ADSL gate. On by that that network connection vanishes, at me the disk defragmentation in BitDefender Total Security and process of removal of the program, both BitDefender Total Security 2008 64-bit, and BitDefender Internet Security 2008 64-bit hangs. With 32-bit versions on chipset from Intel while all works normally. To me not to like Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 and 7.0, but they all the same work with Windows Vista Business 64. I ask you to correct above listed errors in the near future, I do not wish to buy Kaspersky Internet Security, but bases of protection against viruses, I too cannot long remain. |

Hello to all who uses a nvidia board
The firewall of nvidia could be the problem which is included on nvidia boards. What I read you should remove your chipset drivers reboot your pc but during installation do not install network access manager and/or the firewall. Regards Niels |

Um i do have nVIDIA GPU,but the part with "do not install network access manager and/or the firewall" is new to me.Could you offer more explinations on how to do it,like a tutorial or something?
Anyways thanks for pin pointing the problem,i actually had no idea that nVIDIA drivers have a firewall.....my thoughths went to Net framework 3 and the drivers for my network card(since i have cable connection with PPPOE protocol) but i guess the drivers for da GPU might be the culprit. Cheers! PS:if the network acces and the firewall are parts of the drivers couldn't we just Disable them from Local services or something? Hello Cadire
Thanks for mentioning it. The reason why I suggested is that the nvidia firewall can cause this kind of behaviour. Regards Niels Hello mihai_romanian I don't have an nvidia based motherboard. But you can always take a look at the running services by doing this: start, run, type services.msc press enter and take a look at services with network manager or nvidia firewall in the name. I don't think that the videocard drivers also include nvidia firewall. Regards Niels |

Hello all,
I experienced the same problem with v2008. I use an nForce 4/AMD mainboard, and I needed to revert to v10 to get my connection reliable again. v2008 runs well on my intel based laptop. If this issue really is nForce related Softwin should be quite motivated to find a quick solution... |

In your cases it is clear dat u have to reinstall the chipset drivers and uncheck the firewall and NAM while installing. In my case i have a rather old motherbord from ECS so i do not have those drivers installed.Guess something else might cause the problem.
Cheers! |

My Motherboard (Asus A8N) does have the Nvidia 4 Chipset for Amd Processors. I have never installed the Nvidia firewall with the chipset drivers knowing that I will be using a third party firewall like Bitdefender or Zonealarm.
I have emailed Bitdefender twice and tried to use the live support with no success. I waited for 20 minutes on live assistance hold before the time ran out and I was kicked. Bitdefender seems to have a design flaw with the ethernet connection and software code. I keep thinking that Outlook 2007 and Active Sync are part of the problem. It seems when Outlook 2007 is open and My Treo 700 hooked up with Active Sync the problems start sooner than later. Hope they fix the problem soon. I will probably reinstall version 10 and deal with BDMCON: a required resource is not available problem instead of taking down my whole ethernet connection and Network. |

Hello to all who uses a nvidia board The firewall of nvidia could be the problem which is included on nvidia boards. What I read you should remove your chipset drivers reboot your pc but during installation do not install network access manager and/or the firewall. Regards Niels Hi With all due respect, I think that we should not have to be doing tricks for installing the software. It should be straightforward. Next thing we might be asked to strip our computer bare to be able to install BitDefender. So in my opinion this is not good enough. I reverted to Antivirus Plus ver 10 but the sad part is that my licences expire in 20 days. And the saddest part is that I cannot renew AntiVirus Plus 10 which was running well till now. I am forced to upgrade to the FAULTY Bitdefender Internet security 2008. Looks like what made Bitdefender different from the others is now no longer valid. This is a shame. Regards myarmando |

No Answers or response to this problem. I am uninstalling BitDefender 2008 and reinstalling Version 10. The problems in Version 10 are manageable, the problems in BitDefender 2008 make the program unuseable
