First off, my apologies if this has been answered before. I thought I saw a forum topic on this previously, but I just did a search through all forum topics for MD5 and didn't find anything (unless case-sensitive?). I also looked in the FAQ under BD Business Support and didn't see anything there.
I have about 5 workstations (out of 35) which haven't updated since their initial deployment, and they are all coming back with the update error: The MD5 file is not correct. If this continues to be an issue, please contact BitDefender support. Diana, the main reason I'm asking this here is just so other people can see the response. But if you think I should contact support directly instead, I can do that as well. Any help? Shall I just remove BD and try reinstalling? We're using the up to date Console and the other 30 computers aren't having many issues updating (they do get MD5 once in a while, but it goes away after an hour or so). Thanks! Seth |

Hello umiwangu,
Do you happen to know if these clients are trying to update from "upgrade.bitdefender.com" or from a local update server? Thanks! |

Hello umiwangu, Do you happen to know if these clients are trying to update from "upgrade.bitdefender.com" or from a local update server? Thanks! Local server. And other clients are able to update ok from this same server, so I don't think it's an MD5 hash problem on the server update files. Maybe on the clients themselves? |

Hello umiwangu,
Please try it like this: On those machines please try to change the update location for both entries of BitDefender Business Client to: "upgrade.bitdefender.com" Try to see if like this the clients can upgrade. If they still generate an error message, then the issue is in Business Client. If they update fine from this link then the issue is in the local update server. Based on the results we'll see what can be done concerning this issue. Please tell us also what version of Business Client is installed on those machines(right click on sys tray icon, select About) Thanks! |

They are currently limited workstations, but I'll change them over to power workstations to change the setting. I'll ask post back as to the version of Client Security. It was just purchased in May/June, so I think it must be the most recent. Thanks Seth |

Diana, changing the primary update server to the online server (upgrade.bitdefender.com) worked. The updates downloaded and installed without a hitch. So does this mean it's somehow on the server side? The thing I don't understand is that 30 other clients are updating fine... The Business Client version is 11.0.0.10. Console version is 3.18. Seth |

Hello umiwangu,
Here what I recommend: Download the latest version of the Update Server from here: http://download.bitdefender.com/SMB/Workst...pdate%20Server/ Set it to download updates for Business Client then modify the "Scheduled update" policy to reflect the new update server by setting the update locations to: update_server_IP:7074 Try to see if like this you still get the MD5 errors upon update. Thanks! |

Thanks! Diana, I installed the updated server, but there may be an issue... The installation went ok, but after I restarted, it appeared as though the original Update Server was still installed/running. Was I meant to remove it first? Machines are still getting updates from the previous server/port (bdserver:7077), and when I tried pointing one of them at bdserver:7074, it said no updates available (which I assume means it cannot reach the server through that port). Did I mess up by not uninstalling the previous version first? Thanks for the help. Seth |

I got access to another machine that had been having the MD5 errors. I tried updating with 7077 as the port, and it said MD5 error. When I changed it to 7074, the update went through. Is it just the HTTP server that's been upgraded? Is the front-end GUI still the same? Seth |

Hello umiwangu,
By installing the new update server you will still have the previous one on the same machine because the new install does not remove it. The new update server will publish updates on 7074 by default so it does not come in conflict with the previous update server. If you wish to disable it Disable from start-up the services "BitDefender HTTP Server" and "BitDefender Update Server". The service for the new update server is called "BitDefender Arrakis Server". The GUI for the new update server is different from the previous one. You can access it in any browser by typing in the address: IP_updateServer:7074 Thanks! |

Ok, yes, I saw the mention of Arrakis. So does this mean that there are now two update servers running at the same time, both downloading updates? Or is the new Arrakis server just publishing the same updates through a different port (and server engine)? |

Hello umiwangu,
If you leave the two processes " BitDefender HTTP server" and "BitDefender Update Server" running together with "BitDefender Arrakis Server" then yes you will have 2 update servers running in the same time downloading and publishing updates but on different ports. In order to keep only the new one just stop the first 2 services mentioned earlier. Thanks! |
