Hi,
I've purchased and installed Bitdefender v9 a couple of weeks ago. Since the install my computer (WinXP Home SP3) fails to shutdown properly. The user is logged of and the computer hangs at the 'shutting down' screen. Uninstalling Bitdefender solves the problem. After a re-install the problem returns. If I disable the realtime scanning before a shutdown, the shutdown happens without a problem. Anyone come across this problem and found a solution? Bob |

My BD 2009 fails to shutdown. I schedule a full system scan daily at 10:00pm. The properties at the top of the scheduler shows 9:00 pm. The scan does kick off and complete but will stop by displaying the results.

Bob,
A bit different to your problem Bob but A/V 2009 causes my anti spyware program to wait until the very last second before time out, before it allows it to close and then the computer to shut down. About a quarter of shutdowns the time runs out and I have to close the non responding program manually. I have proved A/V 2009 is at fault by disabling it in msconfig and for 5 test shut-down and restarts there was no problem. Reinstating A/V 2009 brought back the fault. BitDefender support has been of no use whatsoever. I won't go into details because it just makes me annoyed all over again. The anti spyware support answers enquiries within hours and does offer sensible suggestions - what a contrast to BitDefender! I thought I'd look on here for similar cases but it would appear I'm probably wasting my time? |
