Hi,
Just installed the trial version of BitDefender on a couple of home PCs and I'm trying to figure out why it's dog slow on my laptop and reasonably OK the desktop. One thing I've noticed is that the laptop has the Arrakis3.exe service running but the desktop doesn't. Does anyone know why this would be the case? What's the Arrakis service used for? It's set up as a manually started service so I assume it's some optional component that kicks in for some reason - but what's the reason...? Any help appreciated. |

Apparently it's for the Outbreak Detection feature (ticked during install/setup), and is remotely activated via Bitdefender, by Bitdefender in times of virus outbreaks.
Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

I don't know if that is true but I recentlt saw that file loaded and thought it was malware, did a quick search for it online to find it was BDs file. Now I check again, and the file is not loaded anymore.... weird. Not worried, but weird

Ok so apparently its used to distribute malware signatures over the home network.
A thread which explain a little about it....very briefly. http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=8492 |
