Hello,

Do you have BitDefender updated with the latest product fixes released?

Right click on the Bitdefender icon in the sytem tray and select 'About'. Tell me the build specified in the new window. Also please check the version of the file bdtl.dll from:

C:\Program Files\Bitdefender\Bitdefender 2012

What Windows are you using? What PC architecture?

Looking forward to your answer!

Hello,

@Sorry.MySoul: please update Bitdefender with the latest product updates released. The build should be: 15.0.31.1282 and the bdtl.dll file version: 15.0.31.1278. Restart the PC and let me know if you still encounter the same issue.

I have BitDefender Internet Security 2012 and have been having the same problems since I installed it on my Windows 7 notebook. I tried disabling every component, one at a time, to see if that fixed the problem, but it didn't. I think I've managed to fix my problem though. I turned off everything in BitDefender related to browser protection. That didn't fix anything and I'm not sure if it's necessary, but I don't need that anyways. I basically turned off everything under Privacy Control -> Antiphishing. What did fix the problem for me was resetting my web browser back to defaults and disabling all addons. I've only tried this on Firefox, because that's the only browser I use, but Internet Explorer has a similar reset function.

For Firefox on Windows 7, open the start menu then type in the search box "firefox.exe -safe-mode" without the quotes. In the dialog box that comes up, check all the boxes except the one to delete all bookmarks. Then click the "Make Changes and Restart" button. That should fix the problem, seems like it's due to some addon that BitDefender installs into your browser. In Firefox you'll still have to go back and manually enable addons like Flash Player and Java if you want your browser to work the way it used to.

I haven't tested to see if the reset in Internet Explorer fixes the problem, but to reset it you need to go to Start -> Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Advanced -> Reset. I'd make sure "Delete Personal Settings" isn't checked so you don't lose your saved passwords or anything like that, then click Reset again.

I purchased BitDefender Antivirus Plus 2012 yesterday for 3 PC's for 3 Years.

Today les than 24 hours later - I uninstalled it off all 3 machines.

It is really bad! Firstly - the machine became so slow and unusable that it was frustrating to even try to open the google home page.

Secondly - my drive C: stayed at 100% usage for more than 20 hours after installing it.

My system froze over night so that I had to power it off and back on again this morning. I have NEVER had my system freeze like this - EVER.

Internet browsing is VERY slow - a page that normally would take a second to load - like this forum page - can take up to 30 seconds to load.

I also use VMWare workstation 8 - and after installing BitDefender I can no longer start my 64 bit virtual machines as it interferes with hardware virtualisation.

My machine froze again this morning about 30 minutes after the reboot.

I have since uninstalled bit defender and installed Avast free software. My system is once again responsive and is working as it should. The HDD has gone back to the initial caning when windows starts to then after about 15 minutes returning to idle.

The version that I had of Bit Defender was 15.0.34.1437. I made sure I had the latest update before uninstalling just in case something was updated overnight - but sadly no.

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 8943G, Intel Core i7 740QM, 16GB RAM, 2 * 750GB SATA HDD, ATI Mobility Radeon 5850 with 2GB Dedicated Graphics. Windows 7 SP1 x64 Enterprise edition.

As you can see from these specs - my system should not be taking anywhere up to 30 seconds to open the browser and display the google home page.

I know that its going to be next to impossible to get a refund of the purchase of this software - but one this is for sure - I will never purchase from Bit Defender again - nor will i recommend it - it is not fit for purpose.

I just purchased Bitdefender Internet Security 2012. I am really frustrated. I, too, am experiencing extremely slow browsing, no matter what browser I use. I am very disappointed. I seriously want my money back. The only way it's faster is if I put it in game mode, but then I feel vulnerable. Screwed! And out of nowhere my computer crashed today, for the first time EVER. Shut down right before my eyes. I was completely freaked out.

Well an Update - I managed to identify the excessive disk usage - and it was NOT bit defender - it appears that Windows System Restore had run out of space for creating restore points and was constantly deleting and creating new restore points - or something along those lines. Wierd - Anyway - by increasing the storage allowed for System restore - the system settled down and is back to idle disk usage. YAY!

Still trying to resolve the VMWare hardware virtualisation issue and the slow internet browsing.

Have raised a support ticket with BitDefender and working with Tech Support on the remaining two issues.

But at least thats one issue down.

Cheers

Rod.

Hi. Had to uninstall the product, and clear the temp files. I wanted to get rid of it all ASAP. That is the only way I can read the email you sent. Is there a 64 bit specific product? The last years product had a 64 bit version and worked like a charm. But this........
I need step by step instructions on installation, and wonder if it will work. And why it constantly blocks Google and the Chrome browser. The computer runs slow; hangs and crashes. I know it is the Bitdefendef that is the problem, because I uninstalled my Last Pass password manager, and the MalwareBytes anti malware, reinstalled the Bitdefender, and the same problem exists. I should go back to the 2011 version - that version fan smoothly with no conflicts, plus it had a 64 bit version. Why this one does not have one?

I am writing this response from my phone since I shut down my system since it is unprotected.

My ticket number is:201112041008121

Thanks

Hello,

Recently bought Bitdefender Internet security 2012 and also experienced crawling internet connections on either Firefox or IE. Chrome was also slow, but not to the same level. After a week of perseverance, I managed to solve the speed issues that I was experiencing and may be the same issue that others may face. If you are using windows 7, and have the latest updates installed, you may find that Windows Defender and Windows Firewall is installed and running in the background as a default even with other AV software installed. Windows defender and firewall is integrated within the OS as a default and not always visibly running. You will find that service to these programs may be running in the background and interfering with Bit defender.

To disable:

At the Windows Start orb, type in 'Defender'
Select 'Windows Defender'
Select Tools, Options.
On the left plane, select 'Administrator' and unselect 'use this program', and then Save
A prompt will pop up, select 'yes'

Defender should now be turned off.

Open the task manager, services, and check to see if Windows defender service is stopped.

Restart and that should be you. It has worked for me and may be the same issues that others are experiencing. Worth a try.

Hello

DeusExeke, do you have Internet Explorer 9 installed and all the updates delivered by Microsoft via Automatic Updates? Do you encounter the same issue on another browser?(like Firefox, Chrome, etc).

Thank you.
